Whoa. I believe this just proves how useful RTS behavior is right now.

Also, great formulation of the thread. Had I read this earlier I would have given it a shot too.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • well, it seems the file is "temporarily disabled".

Cue the hordes of people telling you to use dropbox or box.net so we can actually download the file.

  • yeah it's overkill to use one sprite for each image if you won't use collisions, yet it's really annoying to set the frame manually for each time.

My suggestion: make a simple level editor. Have it output the frame number. Then in your game load this level and set the sprites to the proper frame.

  • you can do this using the modulus and division operators (math yay!)

I worked out the solution on chat the other day but you left too quickly to see it. I don't feel like going over it again >_<

  • yeah I agree you probably want a rotating sprite, as this will keep it the same size.

What I believe is what you do NOT want is to control rotations directly. So, put some work on how the controls translate to rotations. Math will be involved. Cosines will be touched. It won't be pretty.

  • That would be Killer Instinct style backgrounds.

Sadly, the video functions that DirectX provides always overlay everything, as they take a different rendering path.

I believe that there is some way to render a video frame to a texture, then that texture could be used in a Construct scene.... but yeah, that'd be some work to implement.

  • that simple AI gave me some trouble

I should really get on that Finite State Machine plugin :s

and that other one I promised.

  • Check out the HTTP object... I'm not sure it includes file upload but if its implemented anywhere it would be there.

  • Try it before you smite me

In Soviet Russia tutorial shoots you!!

  • I don't think you can right now.

However, someone could always develop a plugin that does that.

  • I shall download this before it is consumed by the mediafire.

Okay. That is pretty clever. I don't think there's a need to do a shader for that, it works perfectly.

Although if you can think of a reason for making one (like some kind of flexibility), I could do it.

Hm. Zelda 3. So cool. Now just layer a fog gradient on top <3

  • So does this mean the feature won't be imlemented? Because it really is a make or break for me and my development partner.

I wouldn't say it won't, but I would say don't hold your breath. Also, you CAN do this yourself and expect plenty of other things to come up that you'll have to do yourself, which is par for the course with any software offering the flexibility that Construct does.

    Don't fear implementing stuff.
