  • Apparently it did, Newt, because they had to do a full code audit to make sure that no M$ code was used in ReactOS. I'm not sure what the impact was on WINE itself, though.

  • Seriously, not the best place for Construct. It's a development tool, should've been placed with the other dev tools.

  • Ah, Lua. LVE uses Lua, too. They share the same license (Zlib) too. Looks interesting, might give it a go.

  • Can't you make it global?

  • They have been here:

A lot of other handy tips are documented in other wiki articles, so it does pay to read the docs.

    Good one!

  • These are rather more than useful to know - are they going to be added to the documentation/wiki?

They're cel shaded polygons actually. I have the game, it is pretty damn impressive looking in person.

As for Construct, it could probably make something like this if it had 3D mesh support.

Judicious use of the 3D box object could be a start. I'd imagine it's not as easy it it'd look, though.

  • Hmmm... only getting half a screenshot there...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • This has made me think of something else...

I've noticed Construct doesn't appear to use global objects unless it has seen them in a layout. What'd be nice is for there to be a way for globals to be accessed without having to use a separate layout for it (perhaps with a 'globals' tab or (fake) layout in the IDE so that they can still be accessed/modified/etc).

  • Hmmmm. I really don't care what the site looks like. I do like the documentation though. Forums are rather quiet, but then LVE has a smaller community.

There seems to be some uncertainty over what they want LVE to be (can the same be said for Construct?). That said, it's already been used as a prototyping tool for commercial software (probably because of Lua).

One plus LVE has is it being cross-platform now, essentially being a Lua interpreter. Lua doesn't look to me to be a bad little scripting language.

I'll be giving this one a try.

  • I'd say a couple of inches here in Malvern. The other side of the hills (and the hills themselves, of course!) likely has quite a bit more though - the town side never has that much.
