  • Difference Between Two Numbers.

So if a 'thatvar' variable might be 20 or -20, I can use Numdiff(0,thatvar) and get 20 either way.

  • Nice.

  • Try Construct 3

  • AAaaaaand I seem to have figured it out (with the help of Hempuli on IRC) about ten seconds after I post.

Well, may as well make sure this is the 'best way' to do it.

    In X I have: Sprite.X-cos(Sprite.Angle+90)*30

    In Y I have: Sprite.Y+sin(Sprite.Angle-90)*30

    And 100 in Force.

    Is this the best way?

  • I'm fine with trig on paper, but I somehow have a mental block trying to apply it to my game, so maybe you guys can help

What I need is best summed up in this diagram:

    <img src="http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9639/helpnq.png">

In other words, the X and Y of the spot 30 (for example) pixels above the plane, but 'up' is the direction of the plane's floor to roof rather than ground to plane

So basically I need what to put in the X and Y fields of 'add force towards'.

    Hope you can help

  • Odd, it shows on my machine as 2.6 Mb. If this is the case, I dont think that the file size is the issue.

Oops, sorry... I must have misread b as KB or something (although it's still probably best to convert to ogg or something, unless you have a specific reason not to)

Also, thank you Dataflashabot for pointing me in the direction of Audacity.

    No problemo!

  • Thanks for the feedback! I'll take your thoughts into account for the sequel (yes, there will be a sequel ).

  • That file is obscenely large, over 200MB o_0

That's probably the issue, trying to play such a huge file.

Use Audacity to convert it to an mp3 or ogg with a somewhat reasonable size.

  • This is quite a big bump, but I felt I should point out that this was included on the coverdisk of PC Gamer UK (Issue 204).

Link to screenshot of disk interface with this game selected (sorry for JPG, my connection is crappy and it uploads quicker :/)

  • 30 SECONDS REMAINING

    <img src="http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6126/szhxndxksmmwsa.png">

    DOWNLOAD Thanks Hempuli for hosting!

You are a tiny pixellated man (what were you expecting?) who must avoid

various obstacles in order to reach the exit within 30 seconds.

Anyone who's played In 60 Seconds by William Broom will immediately see what I ripped off where I got the inspiration.

Just a short and simple game, created by my drive to stop messing around in Construct and just bloody make something. Hopefully you'll enjoy it

No shaders required, if you have them then some things will look slightly fancier.

Some testing and web hosting by Hempuli

    More testing by jsticker

All other credits in the readme.

    Controls: Arrows, Z.

There are three 'cheats', each activated by holding down two different letter keys at the same time. They were made for testing, and I decided not to remove them. (There are really only two cheats, as one only reverses the effects of another)

    Enjoy!

  • Okay, so I have a rather serious issue. I have two layouts, a game layout and a 'you died' layout. When the character dies, it goes to the second layout. Then, upon pressing Z, it's supposed to return to the first layout, but it simply won't. (I have tried with other events, in case it's just a problem with mouse/keyboard, but no luck)

I haven't reported it to the tracker yet, in case I'm just doing something really stupid. This is the full game cap, but it's pretty tiny. I have attempted to reproduce it but it only seems to happen in this cap. I haven't included music.ogg so there's no music. It also places the character close to the right so you can easily see the issue- jump off a ledge or let the boss kill you and you'll see the problem. (arrows, Z) I have tried all combinations of 'next layout' 'previous layout' and 'go to layout'- restarting the first layout simply doesn't work. Can't really continue the game like this, need some help! Using the latest version.

EDIT: Nevermind, Shviller in #construct fixed it by changing the player object to non-global. Thanks Shviller!

  • I agree we need a patching system- even 13MB takes a long time on dial up and such.

I think iamiam likes it, but it seems the online translator didn't like him

  • Hm, it seems to work with IE. But I want to use Firefox
