  • Under the system actions:

    Sort Z order

Sort the Z order of instances of a given object according to an instance variable. This effectively removes all instances from their Z order, sorts them, then inserts the sorted sequence back in to the holes left behind. This means if the instances are spread across a range of layers, they will be sorted in the same Z order locations, maintaining the same order relative to other instances on those layers. Note this action is much faster than using an ordered For each with an action like Send to front/back, so this action should be the preferred way to sort the Z order of large numbers of instances.

So, when the object changes y, or every tick, instance set variable myz to instance.y

Sorting would be sort z order by myz

  • Desktop exports don't have anything to do with hosting, unless you are talking about the distribution method.

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/overview/publishing-projects

  • Hosting has zero to do with it.

  • There will be a C3 game id, but other that that there shouldn't be anything extra.

Also the metadata from images will most likely be lost when the sprite sheeting is done.

Now the options like a digital signature would obviously add some tracking, but that's necessary if you want to avoid security prompts. No idea on installers.

  • You'll have to start removing things that could be the issue.

3rd parties first, Paster, Canvas, etc.

  • C2?

It should work in every browser. Make a minimal test project, if it still happens then its either your system, or C2.

  • Five.

  • Ok, so I guess its manually by the user on desktop.

Then again I just realized there's auto updates by Steam, and the Itch app which is probably how it gets distributed anyway.

So realistically its better to stay away from self distribution for desktop at least.

  • Thanks for clearing that up, but I guess the next question is how can we take care of automatic redistributing?

Like could we use the app manifest to check a remote url, or are we stuck doing something like that manually via ajax. Or is it best to stick an Iframe in there and let the user decide?

  • Try Construct 3

  • Ok, I guess the question should have been can the desktop exports connect and try to update the game like the web exports?

  • I was looking through the documentation for the desktop exports, but I didn't find much information on updating the game. It seems to just say that the wrapper, at least WebView2 is auto updated.

Do the desktop exports connect and try to update the game like the web exports?

  • Mid tier should get 50 to 90 k points.

    Less if they are moving.
