  • I didn't actually need a "wait x ticks", I just mentioned it because there was already a "every x milliseconds" and a "every x ticks". To be honest, I wasn't even sure if "ticks" was the same thing as "frames"...

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion as well, Ashley.

  • Ah, thanks!

  • Would it be possible to add this to the "System" object sometime in the future? In addition, "Wait x Ticks"?

It wouldn't pause the action on the screen, it would simply wait a designated amount of time after the previous event before processing the next one. You can probably do the same thing right now with a timer, but I feel like a "Wait" command would be faster and easier to remember.

    -Thanks!

  • Worked fine for me (performance-wise... there is a small problem with the destroyable wall).

    Very cool art style, though.

  • Well... I couldn't get Construct to work normally again. I dug out an old harddrive and did a fresh install of Windows 2000 Pro on it, and Construct is working again.

I think this might be a very specific problem that shouldn't be worried about, though.

My C: drive died around the same time that Construct's event editor stopped working, and even though I had Construct installed on my D: drive I have a feeling that it somehow affected it. Even after I removed the fauly C: drive and installed my other drive as either the primary or secondary, slave or master, it still was recognized as the "D:" drive (even when it was the only drive installed).

Sooo... hopefully these same circumstances don't happen to you.

  • Ugh... sorry to hear that, Instance. Yeah, I'm still having the same problem. I'm guessing that a resinstall of Windows is probably going to be in order...

 that's a pretty serious bug. Have you reported it to the bug tracker?

I wasn't sure if it was a bug or if it was something wrong with my system, so I thought I'd ask first to see if this has happened to anyone else.

Is it possible that uninstalling still leaves something about Construct in the registry?

  • This started up out of the clear blue...

For some reason all versions of Construct from .94 to .96 crash whenever I try to add a new event or edit an existing event on a project .cap. It crashes even if I start a new directx9 game.

I've tried uninstalling all of my old versions of Construct, but for some reason everything from .94 and up crashes in the event editor. I can add and remove sprites without any problem, but as soon as I move to the event editor everything goes to hell.

For some reason the event editor in .93 works normally.

(of course, my most recent .cap doesn't work in .93 )

Up until now I haven't run into any major bugs so this is a surprise. Construct is somewhat limiting when you can't add new events...

  • So guess .. you guys dont thinks its good what i try to do in here ..

    That isn't true...

You're doing a huge service to the Construct community by posting these tutorials. You might not be getting many responses simply because most of the people here seem to be pretty well-aquainted with Construct already, and they might not see a reason to comment on it.

Please don't feel like your efforts aren't doing any good, or aren't appreciated, Instance. I would still be stuck with collision detection if it wasn't for your help.

  • It was really great of you to do this, Instance. Surely this will be of help to anyone picking up Construct for the first time.

  • Also i saw one minor bug when you take super-pill when time is running (almost 0 seconds) out the ghost will kill you.

    Yeah, I got that too.

    Nice job though, Instance!

I'll have to play the original again when I get home tonight and check to see if the ghosts don't follow you if you head to the bottom left portion of the screen and stay there (from the beginning of the game, that is).

  • Thats odd. I do all of my work at home where I have no connection and I've never had a problem with that. Maybe mine is already disabled?
