No, if you want to use a family variable, use the family manager accessible in the project tab of the ribbon. This can add/remove variables from all objects in a family.

Actions which continually do something or perpetuate are generally not as handy as they first seem. Rotating round a point/object can be done very easily as it is.

Once you close it for a layout, it is currently presumed you want it closed. You can get it back by closing/reopening the layout. In a future build there'll be more controls for it.
Sounds fine, but you guys should really organise your projects into folders if they're causing extra files to be messy .
