  • Pr0 makes me think of pr0n ... prowfeshunol

  • Well I guess you could argue swf is the standard for vector hehe. I do see your point however.

  • No I know you can do it, I meant an addition to the internal workings thus not needing any events at all. Just a checkbox.

But no, it's not a huge difference in efficiency, I just like to point out possibilities.

  • Consider yourself foe'd!!!

Spell check says that's a naughty way to type that but, it stands!

  • That's cool, I totally am behind you doing it first in Construct, you did!

I don't want you to think I'm on a mission to get you hehe. There are certain things that I get hung up on and exaggerated claims is one of them. But as you just said, you're not claiming you invented it, or at least not meaning to. So I see no issue.

    I'll let it go now.

  • I don't think you understand ...

What that example is could easily be converted to what you did by adding collision to them ... that's all that would be needed.

I'm sorry, but you absolutely 100% did not invent anything here.

All you did was use the way alphas are handled when attributes are changed. Take a look at Mario Sunshine. Take a look at Locoroco ... regardless of HOW you came to it, it's been done. In fact there's a DS game out right now that globs together at a distance in pretty much the exact same way.

  • Perhaps an addition can be made as well to the point collision system to include image points added to the Sprite.

Then no additional animations would be needed to expand the point slightly.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I would wait for now. Maybe around 1.0 is released. It will mostly just sit there until more users start coming in, and Scirra isn't really advertising yet.

Also, I would rename the "technique" and just give yourself credit for putting it together first instead.

  • It wasn't intended for games initially and still really isn't. So naturally, making a game in it is going to be inefficient.

As for vector, they chose that because it's smooth. Web stuff needs to be clean and vector provides that the easiest way.

Makes sense to me. People are just using Flash for more than simple intros and menus.

  • That's easy, most powerful thing is the ability to play your game entirely in a web browser.

    Almost everyone has flash.

  • How simple depends entirely on your knowledge and creativity, but you ideas will be limited by just slowing down much sooner than say in Construct.

I personally hate flash games with the exception of one or two that don't feel like flash games.

  • yay lol, i knew this would happen, but its ok, cause its called the freaking quaziblob, and thats freaking awesome

I don't mean to kick you off your high horse, but it's hardly an effect you invented You just found the way to do it in Construct first.

There are many examples of it, but the closest one to yours that's recent would be:

    Subscribe to Construct videos now

Yep, that's what we'll call it officially, the Quaziblob. Here's my Quaziblob blood, hope you don't mind I just edited your example for fun.

    Now THAT was cool. Nice!
