  • FYI the Firefox 3.1 beta has some javascript speed enhancements if you enable them in about:config.

    Seems about on par +/- to Chrome.

  • Can't edit, but wanted to add that I did get sound working on my system in XP, it is only Vista (which again, no longer supports DirectSound HAL).

  • As I said, it is supported on some cards through legacy drivers, but not nearly all.

    Realtek and Creative are two that do support it.

  • Vista does not support DirectSound API due to Microsoft wanting developers to switch to OpenAL.

    Despite having Legacy Drivers, this is far from ideal and some games won't even work on moderate sound hardware. Creative is the only company to release a fix (ALchemy) for ONE of their cards.

    Is it possible to adapt DirectSound to work on Vista and/or add another API option?

    Use the Soften effect? Or, even better, use just a Blur Vertical. Try that on Deadeye's example, it works really well.

    Also, after using Blur Vertical, try giving the Plasma object a Combine Additive effect, it makes the fire look really realistic, and blends really nicely on backdrops.

    Crashes when I add those in any order.

  • Well, looks like for my case it is directly related to Vista Themes. If I disable Glass, so far, I am unable to reproduce the crash.

    Also, with Glass disabled, Construct comes back to focus 3-5 times faster with no (Not Responding) in the title bar.

  • Extremely difficult to reproduce reliably. However, I noticed it happened sooner if I import a PNG and then copy that sprite (from animation editor with ctrl + c) to a new sprite, and then delete the original. Also, fullscreen seems to affect how soon it happens.

    However, if I save before I run the app, the next time I open the cap and run it, doesn't happen right away.

    I'm still seeing if I can make a cap.

  • The Ghosts in that example are using the bullet movement.

    That is likely what is confusing you.
