Construct 3 is growing by leaps and bounds as always :). I think the custom actions are going to be a great addition, I'm already thinking of various things I can clean up in my projects by using these.
I just read the documentation page on Custom Actions, to see if they are "Global". Which they are! I could see having an Event Sheet dedicated to Custom Actions nicely organized into different group folders. The one thing I'm confused on, is how to "Override" a custom action on a family member. I'm assuming it will happen automatically when choosing an object within a family, rather than the family object itself. I've not used this version and it's custom actions feature yet. So I will figure it out soon enough.
The new pathfinding looks incredible as well. No more randomizing paths via multiple Events and/or custom scripting. Lots of new features to learn and develop with! I'm excited to get going with Construct 3 again.
Thanks as always!
The new search/find, and auto complete features are incredible quality of life changes too! This is going to make things much faster. And, no more mistyping strings for finite state machines!
I can't tell you how many times I've created bugs in my projects, only to have a typo, or missing an uppercase letter in the state's string XD
Thanks Scirra Devs!
The repeating tile randomization is blowing my mind right now. I'm coming back to Construct 3 after some time away from game dev.
I'm sitting here trying to figure out how this is actually pulled off. I'm "assuming" some sort of algorithm which will somehow match up the edges of tiles while also randomizing the position and angle of each tile.
Anyways. Great job! I'm looking forward to using the latest version r336, after catching up on these updates.
Going to need to do some research on the tile randomization as well. It's not enough to know it's a feature. I'm the type of guy who needs to know how this was pulled off. I do the same thing with procedurally generated art on Reddit XD. Sometimes I get really close or spot on to how the designer is actually creating the generated art.
Not quite sure about this tile randomization yet though *scratches head*
I cannot agree more. This is easily my new favorite feature. It's very similar to a couple apps I use for art/animations.
Woohoo. I've been looking forward to a Stable Release :). I was just thinking to myself yesterday, "I hope tomorrow is still on track to be the day for the Stable Release".
Thanks for all of the work, and improvements. Especially the QoL improvements to the application. Just the changes to the Effect system helps a ton. I've got a list of effects in my main event sheet. Now, I can remove the disable, and just enable them when needed. Auto populating the names helps a ton as well. Sometimes, I'd have the spelling off a bit, or not right right case for certain characters.
The new sliding movement for 8 direction has been fantastic as well.
Thanks Scirra development team :)
I hope you all are having a fantastic week!
Awesome! Thanks for another release, and a handful of more fixes. Getting closer to that Stable release next week. I'm looking forward to it :)
Thanks, as always, to the Scirra Development Team.
Thank you all for all the work put into Construct 3. I first used Construct 2, years ago, and fell in love with it. I left game design/development behind for many years.
Coming back to work in game design almost exactly a year ago(I believe it was August last year). I tested my top 3 favorite applications from years past.
Construct 3 quickly became my favorite out of the three I prototyped various games with, to get a feel for the new layouts, features, expandability, etc, within each game engine/application in my personal top 3 lineup.
I've since stuck with only learning & using Construct 3 for my game projects. And, the improvements in just the past 9-10 months or so since I dove back in, has been incredible.
Keep up the great work :)
I'm looking forward to seeing what the team cooks up next.
Thanks for another release, focused on stability :). Just ran a couple quick tests, and I believe this has fixed some issues using "Wait" in my Event Sheets.
Looking forward to the next Stable Release. Hopefully that comes together smoothly for next week :)
As always. Thanks to the team for their hard work!
EDIT: Really looking forward to a stable Timelines editor. I keep putting off using it, until the gremlins have been worked out.
Ohhhh mama! The Timelines editor just keeps on getting better and better :)
Looking forward to the next Stable Release as well!
As always, thanks Scirra! Keep up the great work :)
EDIT: Just spent some time, and played around with the new Alchemist Example. It seems like a solid base for a crafting system. I always learn something new within the provided examples.
Interesting. I have not personally noticed the slight freeze time when performing Undo action. I usually use the "CTRL + Z" keyboard shortcut, all applications have.
Sometimes I will Undo several changes in rapid succession as well. Have you tested standard web browser troubleshooting. Clearing all cache/cookies/etc? Or test in other browsers?
I used to work at a very large pharmacy in the States, in the Corporate IT Support Dept. For most web apps, I would just remote into their computer, and run through standard web browser troubleshooting real quick. And, the web apps would restore their normal behavior.
If that doesn't help. It might be something else, between the differences of our two machines. If other folks are experiencing this as well. I wonder if it could be tracked down to a specific piece of hardware/software in all machines affected.
I second this :)
Would be awesome to see some of these improvements on the 8 Directional Behavior, added to some of the other movement behaviors.
I'm really digging the updates to the Timelines Editor lately. As well as some of the changes made to the, 8 Directional Movement Behavior. I agree with, "fedca", on seeing some of these updates across other movement behaviors as well.
Great update to Construct 3, as always. Many Thanks to the Scirra team! :)
Excellent update as always :) Many thanks go out the Scirra team!
The Timeline fixes, and the changes to the Effects System are going to make things so much easier moving forward :). Just being able to disable the Effect in the properties is huge! One of my projects has many special effects for layouts to activate at particular events. Currently have a long list in an event sheet to disable everything at start of layouts.
Keep up the great work, and improvements to the current work flow within Construct 3 :)
All the Best
Awesome additions and bug fixes! As always, thanks for another release :)
Okay. Make that a steady 367,687 XD. Could probably squeeze a bit more out of it. But, that is really solid! Right on 🤙
