  • TinyCrocodile Oh, thank you so much! I wish I have checked this comment section yesterday as I was forced to build my own custom UI, because of the black screen issue.

Well at least now I can get rid of windows dropdown :)

  • Based on your description, I could only have assumed that you exported using older version of NW.js

  • A lot of very useful timesavers! Thank you.

  • Or more realistic "There will be bugs & lags"

  • Hardly any C3 game weights even half of a gigabite. Also at the moment pixel-art stylized games dominate and those take full benefit of nearest sampling which means they have no need to import art of the exact size they're planning to use in the game heavily decreasing their download size.

I didn't see any C3 game with 30-40 soundtracks or very complex sound systems either which would increase download size significantly.

So does CG really needs C3 level of games? If you can just download 200mb games & play it at the best quality without intermediaries?

Plus CG is basically a video. So Pixel-Art likely will lose quality, smooth edges which is not something a pixel-art fan would enjoy. The quickiest solution to that is upscale streamed video specifically for this type of games, but that would mean Pixel-Art games would be even more demanding than AAA games!

That means currently CG is not supporting pixel art. For the real solution, they need to introduce pixellated filter that would be used after video is streamed. With that they could in turn significantly reduce size of the recorded video making Pixel Art games run faster than all other games.

Let's wait until this feature is implemented.

  • You should report everything wrong with the engine as a bug. It is developers business to find the cause. The best thing you can do is provide them with as much information as you can to help identify it.

If you don't want to run into this kind of stuff I also recommend using only Stable releases. Or you could do like I do - use Desktop version for stable releases & Browser for beta.

  • Nice topic.

The concept of Cloud Gaming (further CG) exists for quite some time, but only now we get some serious implementations of that concept.

It already burrowed its way as a new standard, but I don't really sense the need to move in this direction yet. After all C3 is a 2D Game Engine and proper 2D games aren't made to work only on high-end computers. Most of the people will consider getting a game for CG only because their devices can't carry it and also provided they have good online connection, live in the region where CG is supported.

Better wait for CG to grow then we'll see.

  • Example I made using Physics

There is no difference what's to collusion if you want to use Solids for some reason.

    Here are collusion polygons.

If you want ball to disappear, you will have to add another object where you want it to trigger that.

  • You can change Collusion Mask in image editor to adjust solid collusion to a specific shape, but in your case you will need two solid objects to make backside & frontside of the hoop.

You could either split your hoop into two parts or just add two invisible solid objects & place them where you want collusion with the rim to happen.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Ashley Oh it appears my NWjs was old. I updated it & desktop Construct launched. Silly of me.

Also it's nothing, but shouldn't it be 2020 now? To my knowledge, Copyright should have "original year of release - year on the last update".

  • Ashley Got it. I will make some recordings.

Maybe I am the only one experiencing this issue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • WackyToaster

For calling it between events. Doing something occasionally once in a tick can be quite useful.

They removed it likely because of asyns features & others. It would be very hard to keep track of what is happening in the code. Also "wait" for function to complete would be a mess.

  • DiegoM

That's not exactly true. When I'm saving using Desktop build on to my disk it results in a failure, because I don't have internet at the moment. I also can't open Construct when I don't have internet connection.

  • Based only on my experience.

Internet shutdown will prevent on-going & future saving resulting in a failure until you get back online. Sometimes it forces me close the engine. Easily one of the greatest downsides of Construct 3 is being unable to save your game locally without internet connection. That's just silly. Definetely not the type of engine you should take to some distant quiet village to work with.

If your PC suddenly turns off during the saving process then there is a very high chance that your save will be corrupted and there is nothing you can do about it. Make backups as often as you can. Losing one day of work isn't as painful as losing one month.

  • I don't understand how anything that simple could cause bugs. In a bigger project, if you approach your coding like this it will turn into a mess of variables spread around event sheet.

There is also no need to transfer that data between levels (this is what global variables are normally used for) as it is just inputs and if you use getter function you can do it all even better.
