• I'd say sell your games. Look at Notch, for example. But oh well, what do I know? :S

EDIT: Distributing the game as freeware and using microtransactions is also a neat idea.

• ...I'd be happy to share some tips and tricks concerning basic game design concepts such as combat systems, good challenges and balancing, iterative prototyping, level design, planning a game story and so on...

You should totally make some tutorials on that. You'd become recognized around here pretty fast.

• Glasses: Check

Goatie: Nope

Bedroom as "basement": Check

Doesn't care about the image: Nope

I don't know. I seem like yes/no dev. <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

----------------------------------

I think Construct2 will be exactly the same as Construct Classic in terms of license, etc. So it'll be free and you will be able to make commertial projects.

Ah, and you should start learning english, since most people in the forums talk it.

• Hey, velo here.

Since I was born in '98 (yes, very young) I didn't really had the chance to play NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and others. (I did play some NES/SNES games on an emulator tough).

Although my first system was a PS1, I always felt some love for 2D. Yeah, sure, Call of Duty, blah. I find Limbo, Cortex Command and others to be my personal favorites.

As for how I found Construct, I was very bored with Game Maker. I couldn't really find anyway to make the project I had in mind. Well, I started searching game engines and here I am. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Currently I am starting learning Construct (I have the basics, only need to learn stuff such as INIs, variables, etc) so I can start my first project, an uncommon 2D shooter with a retro style to it. I really look forward to seeing it done. <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Ah, and BTW, I am more of a coder and artist. I do understand music (can play piano and guitar) but am truly horrible at composing.

• Alright, haven't tried the game yet but it seems promising from what I can see. The real point to this post is to help you with the font problem, tough.

You can import the font into the project's resources and use R0J0hound's (awesome) Resource Access plugin. This will allow you to have any font displayed on the game without having the player installing that font <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Here is the plugin: scirra.com/forum/plugin-resource-access_topic39986.html

I'll edit this post tomorrow to give you some feedback, since I'm on a netbook right now.

• Is there a way to "block" the mouse from going out of the game edges?

Eg. A custom mouse wouldn't be able to go through the edges of the game window, but would still get input if the actual mouse was out.

• Wow, that was dumb from me. >_< Thanks for pointing that out.

EDIT:

Still doesn't work. What the hell? Here's the cap:

• Just combined the cap you provided with a layout changer event. I only made it for New Game, but it's the same scheme for the other menu options.

Here:

• Thanks, I owe you one. Don't know how to pay it off since I'm kind of a noob, but oh well.

Just took a quick look at the cap. Woa, that's smart. I couldn't ever think of something like that. At least not right now.

• I would like to make a text box. In every tick, it would set the text to something like:

Friday, 3rd July 2011
23:51:05 (clock)[/code:24e6u4ms]

I want the date/hour to be based on the Windows clock, so if I alter the time in Windows' taskbar, it would also change in the application. I tried using the Date object (experienced with the Day of the Week) and it gave me a 5. Now, Friday is the 5th day counting from Monday, but how do I replace the 5 with Friday, 1 with Monday and so on?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Just figured it by myself.

I'll post a .cap later for other people to be able to do that too if they need.

HERE: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14813307/Clock.cap
It just cranks on mine and get's stuck (stops updating the time), can someone help me?
• That looks awesome sauce! Would it be too hard to code a selection for this kind of menu? If not, I'd so use this on some projects...

• Where does this plugin load the sounds from? The same folder as the .exe? I have this on my events and it doesn't work...

+ System: Start of layout
-> Audiere: Load Sound ("C418 - little things - 01 kaffee.mp3") as "song" (Play now: no, Volume: 100)
+ On button clicked
-> Audiere: Play music "song"[/code:313ig40l]

Help?
• I'd really like to check out the caustic water cap... could you please provide it?

• So I guess this is their calendar, after the release:

DAY 1 - Released. Everyone's rushing to the Windows Store getting their copy.

DAY 2 - Everyone realised it was just like having a huge iPod. Even bigger than iPad.

DAY 3 - Everyone's raging because they cannot play their old Windows games since everything in 8 is coded in HTML5, JS and CSS. Back to the webflash-all-day kind of thing.

DAY 4 - Microsoft gets sued by Apple. Surprise, surprise!

DAY 5 - Every single customer throws their 8 copy in the trash or sells it on eBay to people who haven't tried it yet and then downgrade to XP or Seven.

DAY 6 - All the review websites and noobs on YouTube are saying 8 sucks.

But seriously now, this kind of OS belongs to the portable hardware. Not the PCs we all have sitting in our desks. Not even the laptops or the notebooks. Seriously, Microsoft, I am disappoint.
