  • This is a CapX for those who want to save variables, it will just show you a way of doing it using the Web Storage plugin.

Aimed at new comers to C2

Tested in Chrome and works fine.

There's probably a better usage of this plugin, but i couldn't find alot of info about it.

    Save Game Test CapX

  • I like it, the mechanics work great, It's easy to control. The objectives are simple, As a short game made qucikly for a project i'd give a 7/10.

    Good luck with your project.

  • I cheated on my enemies in space fantasy, i had some walk back and forth along the floor in a space game, i just at start made them walk so far using move to, then started a timer at a certain time they turn, and so on.

    Basicaly It just loops.

  • It did a similar thing here, created a sprite as a camera and used that as a scroll to, i set it like an adventure game, so it goes from screen to screen. I left the camera slightly visible so you can see it.

What i did was an event that if player x => camera x+300 then set camera x to camera x + 640 and obviously if its =< -300 then it goes back.

    see the efect here

  • Thats exactly how i did it in my space fantasy game, I spawned some sprites, then got them to spawn more at different angles. If theres alot of them, just set a timer count to destroy them after so many seconds.

  • Are games going to be judged on Play only, or is it going to be multiple things like Graphics and Technical stuff as well.

are Teams entering or solo game makers.

Competitons are great, but limit some people who have great ideas but are rubbish at graphics, Then Teams may have an advantage as they have a graphics person, sound person etc.

What about best TEAM game and best SOLO game..? mind you it depends on how many teams there are.

  • Brilliant i'm glad i bought it when i did.

  • Thanks for the updates.

  • Samething here.. Poor Ashley

    Windows 7 32 Bit

  • Ended up setting a variable at the tip of my gun then.

    angle(PMerc.X, PMerc.Y, PMerc.ImagePointX("aim"), PMerc.ImagePointY("aim"))

    then

    angle PMerc.DirectionAngle

  • Well i like the Example capx we get already i've learned from these, whic are basic templates for how things work, In torque you buy kits, i have a couple of them already, And most Game Dev tools come with addons to buy, look at Unity 3D and Games Creator stuff Their Model packs are brilliant, i really thing Scirra can make alot of money with addon packs, as alot are like me and CANNOT do art on pc's full stop no matter how much you try to teach us, It's a talent.

There are alot like me who buy buy buy as many utils, packages etc as possible to make games. Because lets face it the majority of users where Scirra will make their money from are casual hobbiests like me. Thats where GM,MMF2,GameCreators etc and others make their money

I've been making games since the Commodore 64 version of Shoot'em'up construction kit came out in the 80's, i then had click teams Klick'n'Play in the 90's, then MMF in the 00's and so on, but have i ever made a penny no and neither do most, but i've spent a hell of alot on game creating software and the addons.

  • I see but it seems very long winded to shoot in a direction your facing, i thought it would automaticaly shoot in the direction that the sprite it's being spawned from.

And it's the only way i could in my limited knowledge of C2 get all my animations to run.

Maybe instead of having to rotate ALL sprites in every game there should be an arrow that could be added in the sprite editor to just select which way is which. So that the Players and Bullets would just go the way they are facing.

Also with the rotating thing it sometimes creates sprites to be out of alignment when animating.

I do seem to spend alot of time in my games rotating sprites, in the Editor and then on the layout and then again in the events.

  • I seem to be having a problem with 8 Directional Shooting,

I have a character that has 8 sets of animations for 8 Directions.

And i have a bullet that needs to shoot in the direction the player is facing.

I've tried rotating the bullet At spawn time to the players angle, but thats not working.

If i set my player to Rotate towards the mouse i can then shoot in 8 directions, but thats not the controls i want.

I know it will be something simple, but my head now hurts....

  • Yeh nice intro.

  • I see, what about Higher compression then, as to have a good quality and size Animated Gif or PNG's they can take alot of space up and more downloading..?
