  • Thanks Gammabeam! I did have bigger plans for the game but ended up putting most of my time into the usability. I found it was probably too confusing if you didn't know what you had to do and so added all the hints.

I've already got a new version well underway with a bigger galaxy, the ability to probe planets to find the best resources, relics that can be sold, 'Armageddon' events that destroy planets or mines and a vastly improved customer order/trade system. Most importantly though some actual art assets so the planets aren't all the same haha!

I want it to stay simple to play but with a bit of added depth for those who want to sink their teeth into it.

Thanks again for your kind words, it means a lot :)

Also, I really liked Trashoid. The attack method was rather creative and I loved the style of it, it was just genuinely good fun.

  • Congrats to the winners and to everyone that entered!

I enjoyed the pressure of working to a deadline to be honest and having to push it to completion in that time, it was definitely an enjoyable learning experience.

Definitely a lot of variety in the entries and that's great!

  • Ah it's okay, sorted it - stupid mistake my end :) Thanks for your help!

  • Quick question:

I'm trying to preview this locally and have XAMPP set up, trying to request "http://localhost/folder/file.php" as an example but it always triggers the 'on error' event rather than 'on completed'.

Is there anything else I should be doing? Do I need to add anything to my script for previewing or anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

Only tested it on Firefox unfortunately due to a lack of time.

And on that note, I'm finally off to bed :) [Jebus, had to edit this twice before I got it right, DEFINITELY bed time - look forward to playing everyone's games when I get up!]

  • This is great! There's definitely scope for lots of different levels, or maybe even a level editor too? I tried it on my phone too but sadly it ran quite slowly, which is odd as I've run other tests with C2's physics fine. Anyway, great work!

  • A delightful little game and a great pitch - very funny and I think you came across as having a really great persona, well done.

As for the game, I particularly liked the use of red as a visual cue to highlight usable objects - very good, but yet the kind of thing even the most seasoned developers often miss.

  • Lots of water, good for the brain! Aside from that I drink too much Relentless.. but that's only 'cause I got loads from work when the business went under.

I try to listen to more chilled stuff while working - I find heavy distracts me sometimes! A lot of Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and other 80s stuff seems to be on rotation more when I'm working at the mo for some reason!

  • Aw that's a shame you're not enjoying DKCR, I really enjoyed it - it's frustrating at times but I think the level design was excellent. I just didn't enjoy some of the bosses the location of my remote's sync button meant I kept hitting it while playing (stupid GAME's own brand crap).

Spiral Knights? Never heard of that, I think I'll look into it.

How is Darkspore? I've not seen much of it but thought it sounded like an interesting expansion on Spore.

  • Hi all! I thought I'd start a topic so we can all just chat about what we're playing at the moment, so we can discuss the games with others, find co-op buddies or get recommendations from others. That sound good?

I've been playing Gears of War 3, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Minecraft lately and loving them all.

Oh and I bought 'Ben There, Dan That' and 'Time Gentlemen Please' off Steam - has anyone else played them? If you like Broken Sword or Monkey Island they're well worth a go.

  • I seem to attract coincidences.

A non-teaching assistant started at my primary school when I was about 8, turns out she used to babysit my cousin. They lived 100 miles away!

I only had one night out in my first year of uni as I commuted - and on that one night I bumped into a friend from school who wasn't even studying there.

On a trip to Durham once my friend was reminiscing about how much he hated some girl called Heather from school. As soon as we got off the train, we bumped into her in the street. Weird.

  • Tenpoundpixel that looks beautiful! If my game ends up looking a quarter as good as any of the things I see here then I'll be happy!

  • Ah, I was going to suggest that the font looked somewhat out of place compared to the rest of the visuals but you've sorted it! Looks fantastic, very stylish! :D

  • Haha this was great fun. I really like the way you can grab stuff and then climb it, works really well - I can see this having some really good practical use.

  • Wow, your art is fantastic - more please!
