  • A fractured community. Writing for 3 when more people use 2 or vice-versa.

  • Hey guys. Thank you for your help. Will I have a problem because there are two current versions of Construct?

  • LOL! That make sense. That is why you guys use a tool like Construct. All good :-)

  • How many people would like to see Construct 3 tutorials on Computer Science topics, and lessons on how to use your skills from Construct to learn JavaScript programming?

A specific answer to your question and some thoughts:

    Great

    1. A subscription is great for newbies because you don't have to commit to anything.

    2. It is the cheapest pricing model I have ever seen for a high quality development tool.

    3. You can cancel at any time. So if you only use it for 3 months, you get your money back.

    4. It is a great introduction to Computer Science.

What I would add are monthly tutorials (especially Computer Science topics), free assets, and maybe 1 or two emails to a developer for help. Maybe even a mentor who can give you some guidelines on making your first game.

Again this would make a great product/service for getting people interested in CS, continuous learners, and a great introduction to game making without the hassle for under $10 a month.

  • 1. I use Construct 2

    2. I use Construct 3

    3. Want Construct 3 but is not willing to pay for a subscription.

  • I feel for you.

  • This would be a great move, but Apple didn't do this voluntarily.

I have always found FREE games to be an insult to developers. It has really been a download slide not just for independent developers, but for the market as a whole. There is no such thing as free, and if people are playing and enjoying these games, they shouldn't expect them to be free.

I always wonder what this would look like in other industries. What about American Airlines offering FREE flights around the world, with in-plane purchases that come to the same price as the ticket would have in the first place? Would people flock to them?

I think we all have to re-think our strategy. Basically there should be totally free games supported by ads, or games should just charge $10-$30 up-front and be done with it. This allows lesser quality games to be in $0.99 to $2.00 range.

    What does everyone else think?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I DEMAND everyone stop posting your art. You are all so talented you are making me jealous.

  • I love to play one online. Anyone?

  • I just got through reading all the material on the Plugin SDK. As a developer, I am really excited about the SDK. Actually a little too excited.

The reason I got C2 is rapid application development. I think it can be dangerous to get sucked into the SDK too soon. I will try not to use the SDK until I really need it.

Great work on the SDK though,

  • "All told (and including the iPod Touch), iOS devices accounted for 44.4% of traffic and 49.5% of revenues, compared to 31.3% and 27.7%, respectively, for Android devices."

    And a sobering report ...

When it comes to pay-to-download applications, the pie continues to be sliced unevenly, with around 90% of paid apps being downloaded less than 500 times per day ? and making less than $1,250 per day.

But of course there are books that you could buy that will teach you how to make $12k month or more with an app or two, but please make sure you know the facts first. :-)

    Steve.

  • Thanks for the help Arima, but why would I (or anyone) send a moderator spam? It would be helpful to at least allow moderators to receive PM's, I think.

    Thanks,
