  • This is unfortunately something very hard to do. I've talked with Yann about it and he thinks there are some obstacles in the engine which prevents a simple shader from being able to do this.

Basically, unless Scirra make some changes to the engine, it's doubtful anyone but Scirra can actually create this shader.

  • First of all - don't use CC. It's outdated, buggy, and generally inferior.

C2 will revert back to canvas2D if webGL isn't supported, which does use software rendering. However, I believe you may have been misinformed about software rendering (At least in HTML5) as (I think) even when a computer has a weak graphics card, hardware rendering will always help, unless a graphics driver issue stops it.

Yeah, unfortunately C2 doesn't have much in terms of multiplayer ATM, however there are definitely some third party plugins you could check out.

  • Yup, my game airscape had about 1000 events.

Keep in mind it's not the number of events that matters, as different events would have different performance tolls, and many events aren't actually checked simultaneously.

  • Try Construct 3

  • That's some great stuff! I'm sure you'll have no problem finding work ;)

  • Ashley Yep, that worked. I didn't notice any nw processes but a restart did fix it. Feel free to close unless you want to investigate.

  • Ashley I'll restart my PC, that should sort it out if that's the issue.

    Steps to reproduce:

C2 and node-webkit preview were working fine. However, today I started up C2 and attempted to preview in Node-webkit. I got an error saying it couldn't launch, and that I should check that the browser was updated. Obviously this shouldn't be happening so I attempted to reinstall C2. However, every time I try to install C2, I get this error:

Obviously I don't really want to ignore the file as I'm just recreating the problem. Aborting cancels the install and retry doesn't work.

  • Using existing well-known characters (Unless they have special licensing, or you have permission) is illegal. Simple as that. Maybe nobody will catch you, but it's strictly against copyright law, even if the game is free.

  • There is some limitation. You have to have Steam open to run it. You can't run multiple instances. And all the other Steam limitations. Not too bad, but something to keep in mind.

  • Mobile performance isn't the greatest at the moment (CocoonJS webGL may have helped) so you need to be testing on Android right at the start.

However, you can't beat C2 for rapid programming - and it's certainly not limited to small games! Check out Mortar Melon, Super Ubie Land, and Angvik to see some released (Or soon-to-be released) games.

  • I agree, it's about time these features were added ;)

  • AmpedRobot to give you some indication, apparently Super Ubie Land has 3500 events and it still runs very smoothly. As Ashley said, it's not he number of events that matter - just the way they are implemented.

  • Jase00 Yep, I'm in the same situation. Cool workaround.

I tried to file a bug report about this a while back, but it was closed because I couldn't attach my capx. Anyone have a large enough capx they'd be willing to send to Scirra?

  • Jase00 you get that issue too? Aha, so it's not just me!

  • Kyatric OK, fair enough ;)
