  • What I do, is just, at the start of every level, I set the timescale to zero, or just ignore the input for the player, and then put on the HUD layer the text "level 2", and perhaps a backing (stretched single colour for conserving download, or a whole image) which fades/cuts out after a time.

  • Browser object --> close

  • I don't see what the difference is between this and the lighting example provided by scirra.

  • Hey, I have noticed a strange audio bug.

When I start my preview of a level, I hear some of my sound effects play once, at full volume, right at the start of the layout.

I'm fairly sure it's not my code...

Has anybody else noticed this, or is it just me?

  • Just a quick question:

I have a certain level, where the starting sequence is synchronised with the music (by timing).

However, since music only starts streaming when it is played, this synchronisation will be thrown off when the game is played for the first time.

I suppose I could preload the audio, but the manual says

"preloading too many sound effects on startup can slow down browsers with too much downloading and result in no sound effects playing at all for a while."

Am I safe to preload this music (about 45 second loop), or should I take another route...

  • I suppose so. I was just saying that Scirra doesn't really have the resources/time to do this. Even then, I highly doubt it's legal, and would end up completely ridiculous (1000 games uploaded by 'scirra', who has to pay 80% each game :D )

  • Scirra couldn't really do anything about the must-own-a-mac problem...

It's completely apple's fault for being [anti-apple statements retracted for the sake of sanity]

  • I think it means that the layout's background colour will not be rendered?

Meaning that if you have nothing covering it, you will see through the canvas?

  • You could put them in a family. If you are unfamiliar with families, look them up in the manual.

  • And that's exactly what I did ;)

Perhaps this could be added to the web font tutorial?

  • Ashley, anglelerp would be great. This code is a workaround that allows angle lerping currently for the most part, however has the bug I mentioned.

  • Oh, no need to apologise, ha ha :D

  • Make sure you read the beginner's tutorial (and follow it!), look at the examples ("browse all examples") in the start screen, and look over the manual to get the basic concepts like points.

For a bar, make a sprite, and set its width or height to points * k, where 0 < k < infinity (lol I've been studying math too much today)
