• I think secretly Google doesn't care about Piracy in the same way as Apple doesn't care about jailbreak because they know apps help sell mobiles, or devices on which their os operates. Hardware wise iPhone and Android phones are pretty even now so platform content is important.

That's a good point. "Buy this device, it plays apps.. for 'FREE'!" is obviously a better selling point than "Buy this device, and then buy more stuff to use with it!"

  • The Demo is COMPLETE! and the site is up! http://www.Project-Hex-GEO.com . Check it out! I hope you enjoy it. As always, I appreciate any and all feedback.

  • Reading article after article on this.. I can't really find any decent information aside from statistics from a single game here and there. It's clear there is definitely a very high piracy rate, but a lot of the devs report similar rates on iOS as well. The only really useful advice I've come across is "don't put all your eggs in one basket"...

Interesting stuff, though. If you, or anyone knows of a good source for this type of information, I'd definitely be interesting in taking a look at it.

  • I did some googling after reading this, and it's not quite as bad as it sounds (pretty close, though).. I would recommend anyone avoiding android because of this do the same..

One interesting point I came across was that Google Play Store isn't available in China and so that's where a large number of the pirates come from.. Which means you're not losing money, because they wouldn't have been able to buy it anyway.

  • I'll be running a kickstarter sometime in the next few months and I was wondering, what are some of the best/more creative backer rewards you guys have seen indie games offering?

I've seen a lot of in-game type of stuff, like "be an NPC!" or, "design a city!" and stuff like that. I even saw one once where they baked you a cake..

I have a friend who paints custom shoes, typically video-game themed. He's going to paint some Project Hex: GEO shoes for me to offer which I think is pretty cool. (PS If you're interested in that sorta thing, check em out, they're really cool! http://galacticrad.com/gallery/ )

  • Thanks Burvey ! That's nice to hear (or read, I guess).

Colludium Oh, just realized we had the same conversation twice about scrapping the weird lerp.. haha. whoops!

  • Colludium Thanks, man! That walking on air thing has been bugging me too, I have it that way for when he pushes the beaker.. which I just realized isn't necessary.. ha! Thanks for that. Yeah, that camera lerp thing is tricky to get smooth. I worked on a floatier version for a long time which solved the direction changing problem but created a whole host of other issues.. I finally just had to set it to something simple and quit wasting so much time on it. Hopefully by the end, we'll discover a better way to pull that off. The demo won't be a whole lot different from what I've been sharing with my fellow C2ers.. sorry to ruin it for you guys. haha.

Good feedback, everyone! Keep it coming. Much appreciated!

  • suntemple Thanks! I'll take a look at it in a bit. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

  • JamesXXXYZ This thread links to old version! I had another thread for my devlog, so I just started putting updates there. I have fixed the camera Check out this latest one!

    Thanks for checking it out!

  • I was going to suggest that except it works for me which is strange.

Yeah, but in your screenshots, his font looks completely different than yours. So he's probably using some font that you don't have, so yours defaults to a different one that happens to fit in the box.

  • I'd guess it's the font you're using and the size of your font box. The number is probably just going outside your font box and getting cut off. Try a different font or a bigger box.

Down with text, up with Spritefont!

  • I'm planning on releasing the demo this Friday! It's not perfect and not quite feature complete, but I think it's a good demonstration of what this game will be.

I'd love it if you guys would keep that feedback coming!

This latest version has music, some sound, touch controls, textless in-game instructions, etc.. Check it out!

  • This is a great plugin! I'm having some trouble. I can't seem to figure out how to get the duration events right. I've never used Google analytics before now, so I suspect I'm just not looking for it in the right place. In google analytics, I'm looking at Real-Time: Events where I can see all my tracked events but not duration ones. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

  • Okay, well, it wasn't that.. I've narrowed it down to only happening when touch controls get set instead of keyboard (still, all the other buttons work.. so weird).. I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks!

  • In my game I have all these buttons the player walks over to turn on. I have lots of them. I've been using them a bunch. I went to add a couple more today and for some reason they were not working. So, I turned on debug to find out why. Lo and behold, they work! Try it again: debug off, buttons don't work. debug on, they do?

Kinda hard to debug under those circumstances..

Could the difference in screen size (with debug down there) + overlap at offset somehow cause that? (Though this still makes no sense, I have a bunch of other buttons that have given me no problems)
