  • The moment you said it I though - rotate behaviour + some scaling shader - then realized that in most usual cases the shader would rotate with the sprite. How big is this meant to be? Could it work as a layer that you can squash? I might be able to cook something up...

  • Well, might as well...

    Another new effect - Frosted:

I'd really like to make it sample background pixels and mix them with itself at a ratio, but lack the skill to do so. Can someone who gets this tell me how do I combine the usual front or back with moving pixels around and then combine the result into a gl_FragColor friendly format?

  • Kyatric - hey, thanks for including me - could you update the HSB link and effect image with the gif from the other thread - they are all now in there anyway (including some new fx). Cheers!

Edit: In fact, you could probably delete the separate HSB thread, please.

  • frcol - can you do one last quick test for me - do any of the built-in functions that use random values (noise, noisemask) appear somewhat strange as well?

And please try this version of Dissolve: https://www.dropbox.com/s/68tfoe26vyapp ... addon?dl=0

  • +1 Even though there's more calculations to be done this would be quite useful - ran into this recently as well. With a toggle it should be alright.

  • That last effect had me thinking - how about adding a pseudo "motion blur" to that scrolling... wouldn't that look neat?

Say hello to Racetrack - the weirdest named effect so far - just like the matrix it has to be seen, so try this (hold right to speed up):

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/132 ... index.html

It has independent scrolling and "motion blur" parameters so you can just use it as plain "motion blur" on a layer where you move things fast. To understand how this works I'm including the demo .capx:

    Added to the main listing.

  • A day without a new effect? Not on my watch! Say hello to Seamless - basically just Shift but with repeating pixels:

Wonder how efficient this would be for repeating backgrounds (put it on a layer, just add stuff freely and it auto-scrolls, yay). Let's see...

    Ow!

    Added to the main listing.

  • See title.

Seriously - if you can attach a .capx then .c2addon should work as well - the way it is now it's annoying to either the maker, the users or both - you either rename the zip or put the renamed zip in a zip or put it up somewhere else where no download counts are present and the users can't be sure it will be available after a while.

  • When you put a transparent pixel there the system just repeats that, so its being repeated anyway, just invisible. I might try to make a version that stretches the first couple of pixels. Also a version that seamlessly loops the contents.

About iPad and dissolve - I'm using the fastest way of getting rid of a pixel - just stop drawing it, using a "discard" command. Guess the iPad implementation just decides to discard everything once it gets that command. I might look into a version that just sets opacity to 0.

  • Neat changes, I think they help the game.

The particles - I think they look decent - certainly help sell the idea of eating something.

I think it would be really cool to have a bulge when travelling through tubes, but that might be too much work, given all the bends, etc.

If I were to change something else it would be the splat animation - the few frames don't sell the idea of a splat - this could be overcome with a sine behaviour set to size and a fade that's about half the period of the sine - that way it kinda grows - pow! - and fades out nicely (perhaps starting to shrink a little, like something squashed would).

  • Dissolve for example, it blinks instead of gradually dissolve using Sine.value in its threshold propertie.

    Safari and Chrome.

Please try my "official" capx - it should do exactly what the demo one does: https://www.dropbox.com/s/38la9wxopuwqj ... .capx?dl=0

If that doesn't work then I guess it doesn't work on that system. If it does then check the settings.
