  • Lol yeah, usually when you see big negatives it means they merged or bought someone out... It doesnt mean they are in the red though. As far as stocks are concerned, I can't comment much because I am qualified as a futures trader. Some things are similar though so I will help where I can

  • As requested, here is some tutorial stuff from "The Art of Greg Martin" on how to make wicked planets and starfields/novas using Photoshop. You can check out his website http://www.artofgregmartin.com to see some of his kick-ass work that you can ahieve follwing the tutorials here.

Here is a really quick example of what you can make following the planets tutorial:

  • The new scheme takes some getting used to. I don't really like it at first glance. It pushes me away. While the posts are still fine to read, none of the other navigation is really very pleasing. The colours for text and links just doesn't pop out... and there are so many different colours, it lacks harmony; like, you just chose random colours for each link type / information object, because you can. The subtle differences aren't very good. In my opinion it should either all be the same, or totally full of pleasing, but limited-in-quantity, contrasts.

The Czar-Orange scheme is pretty nice... colours harmonize well and its pleasing to the eye. The default scheme does need more work still, but I'm happy with the orange theme personally.

  • Hehehe I might have a crack at one just for fun... I have a pretty neat idea for a banner scheme... I dunno, I'll see if I get inspired over the weekend perhaps... after my daughters birthday party on Saturday

  • Hey alee... Did you draw that planet or was it "borrowed" from somewhere? I was mainly wondering because I have some awesome tutorials from "Greg Martin" on drawing planets and starscapes in Photoshop... and they are damn good. If you are interested let me know, I'll make a thread and post them up or something.

  • > Also, I have to say... OpenGL is a lot harder to code with than DirectX... plus it is far inferior when it comes to certain draw modes/effects as DirectX has modules already made to support certain features. OpenGL is certainly capable of doing the same things as DirectX, but it is WAY harder to achieve.

    >

Well they seem to do pretty well with quake 4, doom3, enemy territory, quake wars...list goes on...

I did say "OpenGL is certainly capable of doing the same things as DirectX, but it is WAY harder to achieve."

But also note how much worse the performance of those games were at time of release compared to everything else on the market... I mean, they run fine now with the crazy hardware available, but back when doom3 came out it ran pretty well like garbage on even a high end gaming computer. It did look super sexy though...

  • Holy crap it's Bruce Lee!

No srsly... we are all sexy... I should change the thread title to SEXY BEASTS ONLY... then Ash would HAVE to post his pic

  • Also do you know any good (free ) stock filtering analysis software? I'm guessing there probably isn't much out there but if you have any personal recomendations I'd love to look.

I've never seen any free ones... and if I did, I wouldn't trust it anyway. With this kind of stuff you really do get what you pay for.

  • Hey Rich, here's a header for the Czar Orange theme. If you could put that one in the list I'd be much obliged.

    And here's the theme: http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/Czar-Orange

    Thanks

I really like the orange theme... oops I just drooled on my keyboard

  • wow, that was awesome! i've never seen something that small work up so much dust!

Hahahaha yeah, but there were 3 of them ripping it up for over 30 minutes... we wet the ground a little to start with because it had been really dry for weeks... but that lasted about 10 minutes and it was dust-storm city within a few laps. With all the rain we have had lately though, it should be much better for our next filming project... just have to build a camera box so we can mount a camera on one of the acctual cars, and draw up a simple storyboard for camera angles etc as we are making the next video into a "video game" esque film with special effects included. Imagine RC cars in a desolate wasteland racetrack, shooting lasers at each other... then that will be something like what we are aiming at for the next video.

  • is my avatar not enough or do you need more?

    Post MOAR you beast!

  • Nice! I've allways wanted a car like that, but i've never had the money...

Yeah they aren't exactly cheap... nitro powered 1:8 scale hobao cars... around $1000 a throw, and expensive if you crash and break something. That run cost one of the guys about $250 in repairs (he is the one that kept crashing all the time

  • Thought I'd share a video I made for some friends of mine racing thier RC cars on the track we built in my mate's backyard. Music by Pendulum, and all video shot/edited by me. Appologies for the "compression" in some parts of the video... there was so much dust when I converted the video the compression codec mangled bits of it.

  • How forgetful am I?? Wow... priority update for this thread to follow up tonight or tomorrow... will upload the pics of the car. They are STILL sitting on the camera, I haven't downloaded them from the memory card yet... too busy getting the house in order for my daughters 2nd birthday party this weekend!

In between all the work, car crashing, birthday parties, medical issues, and trying to make a game... I have no time left!
