  • thanks for the link, much appreciated. I can certainly see what you mean, that artist is great, but i've had a commission lined up on deviant art for some time. All i will say is that the game is going to look amazing.

I have no doubts, the way you have used placeholders clearly shows there's being some planning already. Good to know!

    Can't wait to play this.

  • This is really cool! Plays nicely and brings something new to the genre. Are you working on graphics already? What did you have in mind?

Just a suggestion, but this would look perfect with graphics styled like this: http://justinchan.tumblr.com/

Anyways, can't wait to play the full version! Nice work.

  • CocoonJS works, for small games especially. Just remember to keep your memory use low and test with all the devices you are planning to support from the beginning and you should be fine.

The market is very tough and saturated. Generally very small percent of the games make money, but as you have already started your business, you probably already knew that. You just need to stand out somehow, build some reputation and see where things go. Good luck!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Sadly not possible at the moment. Leaderboards do work.

  • Edit: this problem is no more relevant.

  • Hi guys!

I managed to get the Game Center hiscores working. However, it raised a strange issue with CocoonJS. Whenever I opened the leader boards from the game and tried to play again, the controls got stuck and I had to restart the game.

I searched the CocoonJS forums and it seems at least one guy had the same problem: http://ow.ly/ukVcp

Any of you guys managed to get those scores to work?

  • Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, you're totally right about it being too similar to Nuclear Throne at this point, and I'm a little uncomfortable about that. The way it actually plays has been like that from the start, but the way I handle weapons themselves now is pretty much lifted straight out of NT, which I did just to get it working so I can focus on the hard parts like level generation. Going forward I will definitely be changing things up and really making it mine. Once the base building mechanics are implemented I think the game will really be it's own thing.

No prob and there's nothing wrong with inspirational influences.

I enjoyed the game already and kinda forgot I was playing an early build, so there's definitely a lot potential in this.

  • Tried it, really cool. 60fps for me (2011 Macbook Pro with Win7 through Boot Camp).

I dig the new art style, but the core gameplay seems to draw a bit too much from Nuclear Throne, in my opinion. Maybe you could spice up the combat somehow? The idea itself is pretty solid.

  • Well yeah, I am not worried about C2 at all - these guys and their software is amazing. When you mix CocoonJS in, it's another story. But alas, I'm probably being too pessimistic here... just being cautious, that's all.

  • I am deeply worried how things are going to work in the future when using C2 and CocoonJS together, to tell you the truth.

Currently prototyping a second game after some success with Apple and I feel like I'm taking a bit of a risk here using this tech. I don't know, just a gut feeling that something's not quite right here.

  • No problem, I feel this could become a real gem and thus tried to give my two cents. Good luck!

  • Hi guys, sorry for the shameless plug, but Trambo is currently on sale for $0.99 if you feel like picking it up. ^___^

  • It sounds like a memory issue. The problem with CocoonJS is that it loads all the assets in the beginning.

  • I love the art style, sounds and general feel. I admire your vision.

I also feel the game is a little too slow-paced at the moment - especially during the tutorial texts. Also it's not really clear what to do when the game starts. Maybe some more resources to the player or some more tips where you can find The Hermit? I think I understand the experience you are trying to achieve, but it's not quite there yet.

All in all, really cool project! I am going to vote you right now. Good luck and I hope you get to Steam!

  • A few months ago, I successfully had a game accepted on Steam without the greenlight process. I'll try to make it happen again, but maybe if I have to.

Ok, wow! Congratulations. No need then, I suppose.
