  • Facebook games can be done in both or even using 3D engines like Unity. You can definitely develop games running in Facebook by using Construct 2 if this is your question.

  • Hi,

A postmortem for my C2 made "Secret Santa: it's a stealthy xmas" game has just been published on Game Sauce ( http://gamesauce.org/news/2014/04/16/secret-santa-its-a-stealthy-xmas-a-rediscoverable-seasonal-game/ ).

I know it's not the "right" season now to play such a game but, hopefully, the reading can still be of some interest

Secret Santa is also going to be showcased at the upcoming Indie Prize at Casual Connect Asia next month.

    Cheers!

  • Personally, I prefer to work on only 1 or 2 projects at a time. Too many at once and I run the risk of losing focus...

So I have decided from an early time that I want to be a computer engineer, so could then it possible to have time for making games as a hobby?

Lots of good advice in this thread!

Get a computer engineering degree and make your own games on the side, integrating them in your curriculum whenever possible (e.g. project classes). That's what I did as well when I was (much) younger!

Once graduated, you will see which opportunities are most suitable and rewarding and choose accordingly. In any case, just a general life lesson from someone who is more than double your age: as long as you are a young fresh graduate (e.g. in your early/mid 20s) don't think about money. You can take risks. Focus on your passions and in building relevant skills. But once you get in your 30s and/or start planning for a family, you need to start being more practical and think about paychecks.

In the meanwhile, once you became a good game programmer, you can definitely convert your skills to any other software related industry if the actual game dev route doesn't work out as hoped.

    All the best!

  • Thanks to Construct 2, I usually get a first working prototype of my game ideas in just a few days or a couple of weeks at most.

Polishing a game, regardless of the tools being used, can take a lifetime, though

  • This really feels like a complete waste of time/money, if not a full scam. I'd stay clear from this....

  • Looks really promising and definitely commercial quality. You should consider porting this to the Ouya

    Keep it up!

  • great work, thanks!

  • This is a topic that is actually very dear to me and most, if not all, of my games are inspired, in a way or another, by classic games: "Turky on the Run" by Locomotion and even "Secret Santa: it's a stealthy xmas" kind of referenced Little Computer People, as outlined in a postmortem of the game I just wrote (but not published yet: I'll let you know guys when it gets out!).

  • Publishing on the Appstore is relatively easy, and it should get easier soon with more export options on the way like Ejecta besides CocoonJS, but making money out of it is a completely different matter.

If you set your expectations right and don't dream of getting rich quick, it will surely be a very instructive experience and you will learn a lot.

  • what's the resolution of your tablet?

Unfortunately there's no real standard: many tablets still use a 4:3 ratio but 16:9 and also 16:10 are increasingly popular.

  • I agree, that's just a workaround for the time being ;)

  • Yes, I just found the very same problem in my latest platform game where now the character can't jump anymore on the various platforms and simply goes through them like if they were not in place!

This was working perfectly fine earlier but I also updated all my browsers recently so I'm not sure if the issue originates from C2 or from a browser...

In any case, I experimented a bit and found a workaround: set your platform to "visible" but change its opacity to 0 (so that it becomes invisible again): this will make it behave properly again.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • done! now I'm curious about the results! ;)

  • Hi! I have the same problem when I launch my game in iOS launcher. But I worked around this problem by putting all audios files from Music folder to Sounds folder under construct 2. And then my music plays without the need to touch the screen.

This seems to work for me as well! Off to make a new build now! Thanks!!
