  • It should work on mobile as well: I never had any issue with saving data, like scores for example, on a mobile device by using the webstorage component...

  • You can save the global variable via the WebStorage component and reload it when you reload the game

  • Check out http://marketplace.apptopia.com/ and good luck!

  • > Maybe an idea for a payment plan? Seems like a lot of people wanna buy the software but can't afford the full amount at once. But if they get the possibility to spread the payments out like say over 4 months or so? Just a little balloon to think about

Interesting idea, it is possible but we're just not sure what the demand for something like that would be like as it would take a while to program in to offer as an option.

Or maybe something completely original that no one has ever tried yet as far as I know... first, though, I have to say I really dislike game engines based upon subscription models over a one time payment fee: to me a game engine is a product I want to own, not a service to use when needed, so I'm really happy Scirra is maintaining the current structure for both its Personal and Business licenses.

Said this, Scirra could actually try also a variation of the subscription model: a sort of hybrid approach for those who can't afford to pay $129 all at once. For example, license the personal edition for $12/month and then, if the subscription is confirmed for 12 months in a row (which means the user actually paid more than $129 overall already), the subscription license gets automatically converted into a permanent one with nothing more to pay ever again.

Maybe this approach could be an interesting alternative?

  • I like them!

  • The Casual Connect Magazine is a great resource, spanning both design and business topics: http://casualconnect.org/magazine-archive/

  • Play safe. Even if there's 99% chance nobody will ever notice and you won't make any money, why risk?

  • What is the name of book as I would love to find it on my Ipad

"HTML5 Game Development from the Ground Up with Construct 2"

  • Hello Everyone

I am new here and I just wondering if there is Construct 2 Book or Ebook as I would like to have somethings side of my computer when I do the studying of Construct 2

Second questions - It is possible to make Beat em up?

I am delight to know there is RTS Game in Construct 2 that I have look at but it doesnt look easy as seem!

I did love to make Beat em up and shoot em up. I am not sure about RTS(Yes, I am big fan of it!) as seem quite advance!

    Cheers

Yes, there's a new book published by CRC Press (I wrote it): you should be able to find it easily in any online bookstore if curious.

Regarding beat 'em up games, of course you can do them in C2: be sure to draw some nice kickin' sprites!

    Cheers!

  • I guess I should ask though, does Construct allow saving progress on android? (I took a poll, it's what most of my parents have)

Yes, the save function works anywhere, including Android and you can definitely develop Sierra or Lucasfilm/SCUMM-like game with C2.

Tools like those already mentioned, or also like the Adventure Game Studio, that are focused on this specific genre will make life easier at first but C2 portability is unique

    Good luck!

  • Really? There's speculation about a bot behind the initial download surge of FB? That's interesting and would explain a lot... Anyway, despite the game being extremely simple and objectively much worse than many other games that can't even get a few hundred downloads, it did a couple of things extremely well like its control system, (very) short time duration for a single game and an easy objective/score target to beat at your next attempt.

All these should always be considered when developing games for mobile platforms targeting commuters.

  • As a 1 man team work it looks impressive... but what's the website? I tried squarecity.com and there's nothing there.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

  • You outline some good fundamental points. The key truly is to work hard and enjoy what we are doing. Even so, though, without some luck we wouldn't go anywhere...

  • Looks nice, I'll check it out!
