  • I animated a circle today with Synfig.

  • I came across the new version of Synfig today while trying to find an alternative to Spriter.

I cannot figure that one out.

I was wondering if anyone here is using it.

  • I have pretty much decided after this discussion and reading some of the Krita book to go with Krita, Spriter and Construct2.

That gives me 3 programs to learn.

Thanks for giving my thoughts some validity.

  • I forgot to say Thanks for the help.

  • I have been reading a book on Krita and it looks like I will be using that.

I have a very old copy of Photoshop from 1999 that I may use. I also have Spriter to make animations.

Now I need to live long enough to learn these and decide how I want the game to look.

I think there is a long road ahead.

To answer your first question, I am not quitting, just taking a detour again.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I forgot to ask the main question.

What is the difference between them?

Is one better than the other for making sprites?

  • I seem to be lost and running in circles.

I just put a post in the resources section about art programs.

  • I am confused.

I have ArtRage, Krita and Inkscape.

I have had ArtRage for a long time but stopped using it.

Now I am wanting to make my own sprites and do not really know what I am doing for sure.

Any advice? I really don't want to buy assets.

  • I have been asking myself that question all day.

It seems I have lost focus and the will to finish one right now.

    Ken

  • Thank you.

  • I have started making sprites using GIMP. My problem is that if I make them 32 bit, they turn out way too small and I must guess at the dimensions to try to make them for my game.

What is the normal size of the sprites in the store?

    An approximate will do fine.

    Thanks,

    Ken

  • If you cannot spend the time to download a program and go through the tutorial on how to make a platform game which may take you a whole day, I don't really think you have the patience to make a game on anything.

Sorry, I have been trying to make a game for awhile and I am still learning. If you want to learn in a few hours, good luck.

I am not being mean, this is a fact.

I came on here because I have an extra license that I was going to give away but now I am changing my mind. It would be wasted here.

    Sorry.

  • You might also look at gimp. It is free.

I made a few there after I figured it out and I am a very slow learner.

  • Almost no internet today. I did manage to get a copy of gimp and figured out how to make a tree, some grass and a house and save them over to construct2.

I guess that is a beginning.

I am also learning how to make sprites so my first may be a platform with my own assets.

  • At my age, it depends on if I wake up in the morning.

Actually, I am retired so if I don't have to run an errand ( seldom) I have all day.
