  • damainman , sure, whenever's good, but you only need one comment, and others can like it while you're working, and then you can just check back in.

  • damainman I'll keep watch for that (I'm really fascinated by principles of gamification, so I follow the rep system religiously), but I noticed that while I was awarded the Fanatic Badge a couple days ago, the counter hasn't reset, so instead of being a day or two toward another Devotee badge, I'm just camping out with full green on all three.

Maybe a few of us could run an experiment on you, wherein you say something helpful on a blog post or tutorial (maybe even my own =P) and then we get you three likes and see if you're awarded the Good Comment badge and points, just points, or neither.

Make a note right now of how many badges you have according to that "Top" number on your me/badges screen, and how many good Comment Badges you've earned in the breakdown below. Then post here where you made your comment, and we'll see if a few of us can give you likes. Don't forget you'll get 5 rep just for each like, and 2 for making the comment!

  • You should have, but I know from other posts on the forum that Notch is one of the ones with the most wonkiness and often requires a manual award.

I'm also missing a couple awards, notably a Religious Updater from a week ago. Out of curiosity, when you go to your list of badges, does the "Badges Earnt" number match a manual count of your badges below?

In my case, I show 49 badges earned, but a manual count shows I have only been awarded 47.

  • ahr Ech , beautiful painting!

  • And will it be added to the Behaviors in the Manual?

And if you notice RandomExile this simple sentence isn't even part of the original post.

The simple mention was "search doesn't work" which was untrue at the moment I tried it.

Maybe something showed up different for you. When I opened this thread, the first post was flaye's, with the full report, and the post hasn't been edited.

  • Kyatric I think flaye did a pretty good job of listing the error he received, and I don't think there's much to say about using forum search beyond "you type the term into the box and hit 'enter'."

What do you think he should have said, instead?

Also, using Chrome I just typed "Sever Error" into the search box, hit "enter" and received the same 404 error. Advanced search worked fine, as others have noted.

  • , it's good to see a lot of these more fully developed C2 projects coming together. Good work, man, and best of luck.

  • Agreed with mineet, and the flying vs falling animation is pretty smooth. I like where you're going with this. =)

  • czar , I do too, periodically, and I've noticed the same thing. The saving grace, however, is I use Chrome and every time when I hit "back," my form text is still there, complete, just as I tried to send it. When I hit "Post Reply" a second time, it always goes through.

  • mineet =)

mystazsea , about what we were discussing, check out Egon's video on page 52, and Mimeste's video just above. Several things strike me about each video as being particularly well done.

Egon's use of parallax and simulated camera focus is phenomenal, and I love his light effect and falling leaves. I don't know how many people noticed it, but the tree in the midground as the video starts is actually swaying slightly. The foreground plants are much more obvious, but it's a very lifelike movement. Overall, so much about the scene just "feels right" because of the attention to detail and verisimilitude.

Both videos use the "motes of light" effect to particular effect, which is of course extremely important in our own conversation.

  • I love it, ! Between you and Egon, there's a lot of beautiful, atmospheric forest work going around, and I'm only going to be adding to it ... weird, but you can't argue with the appeal of magic/ethereal woods. =)

  • RandomExile

Thank you very much! I use 14 layers... too many I think. :P

Egon I'm not in a position to critique your layers =P , but we certainly can't argue with the gorgeous results. I'm working on an atmospheric project now which will (hopefully!) use similar parallax, but I don't want to kill my artist! =P

We'll see what we can get away with...if I show him your work as a reference, maybe it'll help sell the value... =)

  • squamificio, I tried to play your game but just got a grey screen. =(
