  • This is the absolute truth. We need a strong tutorial on constructing tutorials, which frankly, I'll be more than happy to do once I get it figured it. As it is, I'm trying to politely PM several individuals who have written the most well-constructed tutorials to answer my questions, and I'll use their wisdom to publish the tutorial I'm working on.

  • Alas, "All Tutorials" went away, and it's not possible to search by tag or topic, or get an overview of helpful tutorials in each topic.

  • Agreed with danuyos and oppenheimer. We need All Tutorials back, and sortable by tags. I'm not even sure where the tag search went now.

    Good vs Bad tutorials

  • Really well done! Very polished, and some of the battlestations felt like they had genuine weight and density to them. (I watched most of the videos =P)

  • I love your tutorials! I'm sure anyone learning pixel art would be quite happy to see more from you. You have a way explaining properties of color and perception to make them easily understood and immediately applied. Can't wait for your finalized work!

  • ,

That's along the lines I was thinking. The idea's going to be to combine colors to fill in a rainbow. The game will start out with a crushing thunderstorm which is gradually driven away as the player brings out the rainbow. It's not exactly grounded in hard science. =P

I'm thinking of a few possible mechanics, either dragging and dropping the circles together or clicking on them to send them skittering away in the opposite direction of the click. Maybe a "lens" could be used to redirect them.

  • , here's what I'm messing with right now. The circles all have a randomly assigned vector, and then you can drag and drop them, but for the moment they just continue on their original heading once you let go.

    Circle Test

  • Ah, that makes sense!

  • The ninja teleports quickly and has a wide distribution of throwing stars: how hard is it to evade them?

  • I was sold when I made it through that first shooter tutorial in half an hour. Granted, all the artwork was pre-made, but it was just too easy. I'm swamped in functions and events NOW (=P), but it would be wayyyy worse with almost anything else.

  • Nice classic arcade scroller, What are the spiraling green lights in the last picture?

  • Ok, thanks. I look forward to seeing it when the situation's resolved!

  • gorgonzola3000, your artwork and scrolling is gorgeous! Who created your art, or did you make that yourself?

I apologize for the duplicate post, but I realized I should have hit "reply" the first time, so as to trigger an account alert.

  • nemo, did you change your video to private? I got that error message when I hit play. =/
