  • Yeah only you'd know since you can test it. I was only going by the video which isn't always reliable for showing how fun a game is / can be.

As you said, you tried the cursing thing but it didn't work out. I imagine it's because the other player can still kill you while you have a "crappier weapon". Did you try freezing the other player for a few seconds when shot by that gun? It would give the other player a chance to escape.

Or possibly some NPC enemy that floats around and curses a player on contact or something. Or even use triggers so as players get closer to this trigger, the overlay gets darker?

I don't think the limited visibility thing should be taken out completely. You could even have one level where all players have limited visibility..

  • Looks decent for an arena shooter but (imo) it's too dark. As in, it's hard to see where you're going but maybe it works better when actually playing it. If I was to do that game, I'd probably have the limited visibility as something you can curse the other player with ;p

  • Looking good! Will be keeping my eye on this one.

  • Pretty nice! Like Spy Hunter.. but not... ;p

My score was 12 or something. The group of cars with the tiny gap got me!

  • C2 image editor? ugh. I only use it for temp graphics. I'd use it more seriously if it actually showed the colour picked on the colour picker window.

    Nice looking game btw!

  • Awesome atmosphere on that background. Will look lovely no doubt with parallax.

Spriter is very nice, but it's a bit fiddly if you haven't spent a lot of time in it (like me). The character in my Slappy Burd game was done using Spriter, and was really the main reason I did that game.. to get into Spriter. I don't know about using the Spriter plugin as I haven't checked that out yet since exporting the frames was easier for me - one step at a time ;p

  • hmmm the controls aren't as tight as I'd like them to be. It almost seems random luck getting the double jump to work, but could be an interesting game if you tighten those controls a little.

  • The way the grid changes is kinda confusing. I'll give it another go when I'm not slightly tipsy..

  • To stop people staying in the corner, or elsewhere for that matter, have some special ghost that will spawn where the player is every few seconds. Give them a warning by flashing the ghost after spawning there or something. And instead of this ghost following the player, maybe have it fire off a burst of ectoplasm.

As for the game, it is a little boring tbh. Maybe too many ghosts from the get go? Not sure how you're doing the bullets - I assume they're using the bullet behaviour - but it might be better using the turret behaviour, then you can use the predictive aiming. When I was playing it, when the bullet missed a ghost it aimed for, I was kinda pissed 'cause it was out of my control.

Also, you could add a powerup that appears every so often that makes the player invincible but is also able to smash through the ghosts and kill them upon contact.

  • Looks nice!

  • Haven't played it, but at least you've tried to be creative with the maths part.

  • DARTH Crusher, glad you like and thanks for checking it out!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • haha nice. Yeah I did think about combos, but that'd be quite a bit of work implementing. Then there's the animations..... maybe for Slappy Burd 2: Super Hyper Toss

BTW, Leprechaun is an Irish thing.. this is Scottish.. ;p I guess caber toss would work, but wouldn't be as funny..

  • So I got fed up still seeing Flappy Bird everywhere I go, so I made this!

Updated the keyboard controls for you foreigners Let me know if this works you guys!

    Slappy Burd 0.08

    NEW v0.09

    Slappy Burd 0.09

    • Fixed a couple of bugs
    • Polished it quite a (thanks to LiteTween - such an awesome plugin - THANKS LUNARRAY!)
    • Added the kilt move (I was going to leave this for the premium Android version - which is why the previous HTML5 version didn't include it)
    • Added a quit button (well... surrender flag on the main menu ;p)

The way I had the kilt move before, was when the player beat the hiscore, it was activated.. it's basically an extra life.. is this better than just having it activated at the beginning of every game?

    KEYS:

    p right punch

    . right kick

    q left punch

z left kick (or y for foreign keyboards)

    SPACE restart

    NUMPAD:

    9, 3, 7, 1

    5 to restart

Tutorial mode (accessed from main menu) will only guide you through using a touchscreen device, although you can just click through using the mouse, then use your preferred keys setup from above.

It's hard at first, but once you get into a rhythm.. Although keeping that rhythm is even harder (at least for me!). Because of this, the difficulty doesn't increase. Depending on feedback, I may increase the difficulty slightly every 10 seconds or something.

ALL feedback, good or bad, is welcome. Hope you like

It's also on Google Play... Slappy Burd Google Play

  • Let's say you save enough money for a Construct 2 license. You buy it. You develop your game happily. Then you go to upload to google play... ugh oh.. $25 fee for that. Apple? $99 for that...

My advice is to save / sell stuff / borrow, to buy the license. Then create your game. Seriously, if it's good enough you can get sponsorships from sites like Kongregate or FGL, then you'll be able to afford to put it on Play and the Apple stores.

Just don't pile all your hopes into this one "superb" game. After working on it for a while, and testing the mechanics, you'll probably realise it wasn't that superb afterall.
