  • This version of Asteroids is very enchanting indeed. Nicely done.

    I'm having a problem with online highscores lately though. They just don't update. Only if I restart the game they will be redownloaded/updated. It's like that in my own examples. Examples that used to work. And I just tried Asteroids, scored high enough for the top ten. But the highscore list didn't change. Only if I restarted the game.

    I don't know what the problem is, since this stuff used to work here for me. Anybody else having this issue?

  • If I understand correctly you have your game menu just on another layer but in the same layout as the actual game. Or did you confuse layers with layouts?

    You really should use different layouts for menu and the game itself (at least if there's not a good reason for having them both in the same layout. I can't think of one right now). Just rightclick in the project tab and select 'Add layout'. You should have Layout 1 and Layout 2. You could name them now 'Menu' and 'Game'... well and that's that. And when you click on 'new game' now in the layout 'Menu', just add an event that goes to the layout 'Game'

    Hehe, people need to train harder then! I played against Arcade for hours, since we are in messenger contact. I even made a small construct app which would show the RR highscore and update itself frequently. So I could have it in another window while I'm playing.

    I said I was a little obsessed with RR.

    Oh and finally customizable spaceship in the next version. YAY!!!

  • Yay, a new version of Retrorun!

    Some nice changes! But since Endurance is still harder than the normal mode there is no point in playing it - other than training maybe. Give Endurance its own highscore table and it's all fine!

    Is it just me or did you lower the particle rate a bit? If so, good decision!

    And guys, it gets a little lonely on the highscore table. I'm having a duel with Arcade for the most time. No new challengers?

    Things I'd like to see in future versions:

    * Spaceship sprite customizable (load from PNG)

    * Highscore list ingame

  • How about having the actual platform, which is invisible, in a container with some sin movement sprite (visible of course) and always set it to the same position?

    One time I spawned with Julius Belmont inside the walls in the sonic level.

    Btw press S on you become SONIC himself.

    Ah, and I don't think Belmont should be moving while he's attacking with the whip.

  • It's a little hard for me to get into other people's caps when there are no comments at all.

    From what I've figured out, you should have a closer look at event 17 and its subevents 18+19 and at event 20 with the subevents 21+22.

    When I put in TimeDelta there, it would act the same in VSYNC and UNLIMITED mode. At least it appeared to me that way.

    Would be cool if the player could crouch by pressing 2nd mouse button.

  • Actually it was just a FOR EACH ORDERED event which crashed the cap when it ran more than 1 time. Well I used another method to order the scores and now everything works fine.

  • That's just theory. I still think it's weird to have two modes, but just 1 highscore table. No matter what you do, the modes can never be equally challenging.

    Oh man, maybe I'm becoming a little obsessed with RETRORUN.

    But shouldn't you have two different highscore tables? It would be very hard to balance both modes accordingly. One mode would always be easier/harder.
