PixelAmp's Forum Posts

  • Odd. Mine is there now. I did just update my profile and realized that I used a different email address which tied into my licence. So if they are tied to the forum (which is the only way I can see how at the moment that it could recognize you as someone who purchased the product), that would make sense as to why my badge is showing now.

    Thanks Kyatric!   <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hi everyone!

I am from the soon-to-be Great White North. Somehow I managed to keep missing Construct2 in my many searches for a cross-platform tool. Construct2 really peaked my interest as the company I work for develops mobile applications so whenever I come across a tool that fits in that niche, I like to investigate.

After reading over the Construct2 page, I opted to buy it before I even downloaded the free version as it seems to already be ahead of a couple of other engines I have played with.

I already have a couple of ideas I want to start working on ASAP and get to know some of the people on the forums.

  • Hmmm... just noticed that I don't have the badge by my avatar. Perhaps they are only visible to other forum members?

  • Tom , I am sorry to bother again , I just realized that I ve got the points but I don t have the early adopters badge .

Is there a way to fix this ?

    Merci beaucoup !!! Thanks a lot !!!

Maybe I am missing something but it looks like it is showing up by your avatar to me. A little ribbon that says '1st' on it?

  • I might have not indicated correctly what I did since I am still really new to the tool. I selected the Sprite object in the Object pane (lower right) and then adjusted the Height and Width elements under the Size properties. Not sure how that affected the sprite exactly.

Your way was pretty interesting though to affect the mask but I can see how that would mess up your key press calculations.

  • I downloaded the capx file and validated that this is an issue. I thought it might have something to do with the physics as I ran into a similar issue around scaling of images with Box2D a couple of months ago but it looks like you are not using them at all.

I noticed that if you change the width/height to like 31.9 the issue appears to be resolved.

  • Sure, I can send you the file... email me at lance at digitalarchitecture.ca

I'll fire you the file then...

  • I think I worked out an example that might be what you need but I currently don't have a place to upload (my DropBox is packed) it so I can either mail it to you or try and manually type in the events.

I have only started messing around with Construct since yesterday but it might help a bit.

    Let me know.

  • Phonegap is free now? and will be expensive in some weeks? or construct will make a contract with the phonegap? =x

PhoneGap was purchased by Adobe for inclusion into their toolset but to the best of my knowledge, it is still open source and free. PhoneGap Build on the other hand is in beta and the costs are still up in the air and may be for some time while Adobe/Nitobi figure out what the next steps are with that product.

  • Sigh. As I continue to work on this I am running into a second issue along with the shaking blocks. It seems that they all start to slide to the left side of the screen. Is that because the platform is not 100% level???

  • Okay, came up with an idea that seems to work a bit better than what I had but it still seems jerky.

Since I am building this for a mobile device, I made the platform the exact width of the screen and then constrained to to the layout. I still have the force being applied upwards as per a post that Ashley made last month (http://www.scirra.com/forum/somethings-id-like-to-see_topic44932.html) so my only real issue now is that the blocks seem like they are shaking. If I recall correctly that could be due to some tweaking of the Box2D values (friction or something) so I will take a look at that.

Wow! I love how you can work through a number of tweaks in such a short time frame.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Okay, I did a few more searches and found a great post that led me to the applying of upwards force on my platform at a value of 75 (against the default world gravity of 10), X=0, Y=0, image point=0.

So I now have a new problem in that the platform is moving upwards relatively quickly in an uncontrolled manner; the platform shifts from side to side. Quite hilarious but I need some control as I want to it to move straight up while still employing physics against the blocks.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi everyone,

Just started with Construct 2 yesterday and love it so far. I am trying to replicate some functionality in a game I started in another engine and I am somewhat puzzled by what I must be doing incorrectly. I have used the search, went through the stickies and re-read the physics tutorials; still no luck.

I have blocks falling from the top of the screen using the Physics and Bound to Layout behaviours (the later to prevent them from leaving the play area.

Moving upwards from the bottom of the screen, there is a platform that also has the Physics behaviour attached to it. To get the movement upwards, I am using an Event on every tick to set the Y-axis value to the current value - 2.

When I start the simulation, the blocks hit the platform, there are some minor bounces as expected based on the restitution values and then they stop while the platform moves through them. Once the platform moves through them the blocks fall off the bottom of the screen.

The Problem: As you can probably imagine, I need the blocks to sit on the platform and move upwards with it. Is it because I am manually setting the Y-axis value on the platform? Is there an option that could perhaps change the platform so it 'floats' upwards?

    Thanks for your assistance!

  • I've been making games since the Commodore 64 version of Shoot'em'up construction kit came out in the 80's...

OMG! I so loved the Shoot 'em Up Construction Kit on the C64! If you think about it, it was pretty revolutionary for its time.

Man, I should dig out my C64...
