  • Love the art style of the character and the jumping action feels pretty good. Can't wait to see where this goes.

  • Those were great; thanks for sharing David.

  • I totally agree; the badge system is a great way to foster the community. It would be great if they continue to build upon it. Those categories you outlined would be an interesting choice too.

  • *Edit* Also I download Firefox 8 and did encounter the problem, but I must say, even before that point the general performance of Firefox is TERRIBLE compared to Chrome. A much smoother gaming experience with Chrome.

Interestingly enough it felt like it was running faster for me on Firefox but definitely not as smooth as on Chrome (more even experience).

  • Try Construct 3

  • Doh! I didn't even think about faking it with bullets!

I'll play around with it and see what sort of effects I can get out of it.

    Thanks for the quick response!

  • I've done a couple of searches on the forums and noticed that CC has particles already but I couldn't locate anything in regards to C2.

Are implementing a particle engine into C2 anywhere on the current road map?

    TIA.

  • Is this something other than they have already done?

Maybe I am missing a part of the discussion but if you click on your name you will see that you already have the Early Adopter badge (it's also affixed to your avatar).

  • I managed to complete the level using Chrome on Windows 7.

Couldn't even get past a white screen when trying to run on Firefox 4.0 once it indicated the game was loaded. I then updated to 8.0 and as soon as I got up the stack of crates and made it about 1/3 the way across the platform with the second black germ, I too got the same screen discussed above.

So I went back to Chrome and played it through again. Great start!

  • LOL! I was terrible at trying to get more than 3 hits in but it was fun.

I didn't see a problem with the text on the main menu but I felt that the HUD took up a fair amount more space than what I would have expected; I felt that I was pretty cramped while playing.

But the art style is great! I would love to hear what tools you used and the technique behind it. Did you learn it from a tutorial?

Lastly, loved how you treated the C2 logo. Can't wait to continue watching this evolve.

    Best of luck!

  • This might be a good place to mirror a little feature idea back from the CC days that even had a little illustration:

    LOL!

What a great way to visualize how the angles work in C2. I doubt I will ever forget that now. Thanks for that!

  • Thanks for the reply Wastrel!

I managed to get it working. For those that are interested, I totally made a boneheaded move... LOL!

Since the blocks were forcing the platform downwards, I neglected to check the density field for the platform. I increased it to 99 and that seems to have resolved it.

  • I have ran into another issue...

As more blocks fall onto the platform, they start to add more and more weight onto my platform to the point where the velocity I have applied against it to move it upwards, stalls and it comes crashing down to the bottom of the screen.

Does anyone know how I can keep it moving upwards regardless of how many blocks (adding additional weight) fall onto it?

    Thanks!

  • After some messing around I managed to fix this on my own by trial and error (sometimes the best way to learn a new tool). I was applying force but that gave me some really odd artifacts (read above) so I instead just applied upwards (negative Y) velocity against the platform and it seems to work much better. There is still a bit of shake in the blocks as they land on the platform but I think that should be relatively easy to tweak.

  • Glad it helped. It was a good exercise for me to familiarize myself with the tool. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Wow! That was a great example and well documented to boot! Thanks for sharing. I had a blast just trying to time in air re-hooks. :)
