  • Figured it out. Was on mobile at work and didn't understand.

  • Let's say I'm on the PC and I want to save and then hop on my mobile device. How would I do this? I believe Dropbox no longer does HTML5 correct?

  • Try Construct 3

I envy you. I'm doing squats at home with extra-large bags of cat litter on my shoulders cause I don't want to spend the money on real weights. FYI: It's hard to do push-ups with a bag of cat litter on your back.

Been there done that lol. Had a backpack with bags of pool filter sand. I'm a total introvert though so I got a power rack for Christmas. Squat Stands before that. Just Craigslist it all. $300-500 will get you the basics (bench, rack, weights, barbell ) which is all you need really.

You will make gains with what you have though, just not as significant or in a quick fashion.

Just curious, but how many games have you made with construct since you began using it a year ago? I mean games that have been completed.

Completed on the app store? Or have made me money...none.

Actual games....26. From smaller games where I opened up the platformer example on Construct and simply replaced sprites and etc. To games where I would basically clone a smaller app just to see how it could be done. Nowhere near professional level of course (ie polished).

Every time I learn something new though. I will get stuck on a game and go back to it a few months later when i finally understand what I was doing.

By all means a hobby by definition. $10 or whatever a month though is pocket change if you really want to get good at something. Hell I have bought over $500 of equipment for a home gym easily in the last few months. Simply because I like to lift weights. It is my hobby.

I don't see the problem. People can't fork out $129 (or is it $99) a year to have the ability to make an UNLIMITED amount of games every year.

Do you want to learn to code? I would rather commit suicide than learn that. I paid $129 a year ago i believe and it is worth EVERY single cent! I'll just keep using C2 for the time being, but I'm sure I will get C3 and gladly pay for a yearly fee.

Have I made any money yet off of C2. Hell no. Have I learned a lot? Every single day.

The reality is that C2 is cheap as can be. They can not possible have a C3 and have a single one time fee for unlimited upgrades. 5 years from now and the C3 user is still getting free upgrades at the expense of thousands of hours of man labor to make them. It doesn't work out.

Some cheap people on here I guess. Even if it is a hobby $129 a year is next to nothing. What is the average income on here....12k a year? geez folks. Support this company!

If you don't like it continue to use C2 or try the free version of C3. Or time to try out a new game maker. No one is making anyone stay.

  • I think replays are good.

Think of the old SNES Mario games. You could have only a few lives left and go back and get more lives/power ups and get ready for a big boss fight.

Obviously this was a stand alone game and going back wouldn't affect anybody else but you.

If anything if everyone can replay old levels and gain extra things(coins, etc.), then they will. So will everyone else, so it wouldn't be a big deal in my opinion. Of course I have no idea what the game is, but yeah, lol

  • Thanks again!

I removed the Bound to layout behavior and set a clamp to Player position so is always inside the layout.

I think the problem is the "Bound to layout" behavior in combination with Player position = Mouse position

I believe that the Player is actually outside of layout durring the collision check, but the display is updated afterwords

Thanks Cipriux! Completely forgot about having the Bound to Layout behavior on. I took what you added to the capx and added it to the game and it worked perfectly. Also liked the Flash too. Simple thing to let the user and me know that you obviously got hit.

What is it called when you add the viewport, player, clamp etc. to the X and Y coordinates? That still seems a bit tricky to me. What would I search for if I wanted to learn about those things in the Construct 2 Manual?

  • They both won! lol

  • I am just wondering how many hours a day do people spend developing/using Construct 2? I know it it might not be a set number, but wanted to see how much time/effort everybody is putting in and if they are making games that make money!

I am new to this. I am putting in 3 hours a day (4 days a week). Like I said still new, but making different easy games and using behaviors a lot. I have learned A LOT just in the past few weeks. In reality I would like to double it to 6 hours a day. Get more done, and learn quicker and get better faster.

    Everybody else?

  • I am having an issue with using the mouse input. I have included a capx so it can be easily understood. I have also set the mouse to crosshairs so you can see what I am exactly talking about.

The sprite which you are moving with the mouse can be taken to the right or left. The mouse (crosshairs at this point) will be in the margin thus making the sprite not able to be collided by the other falling sprites. Thus negating the whole collide with another object if you can easily sit at the right when the game gets harder.

I have tried putting the margins to 0,0. Didn't work.

I have made it where (if sprite is off screen/layout it will be destroyed). Works kind of, but you can still sit at the right or left and still avoid a collision.

Just not sure what to do. If I upload it to the arcade will it be fine? Is it just because I am previewing it and the margins are just screwing it all up?

Just play the capx and wait 5 seconds or so and sit at the left/right with the mouse all the way off the screen and it will do what I am saying. Thanks!

  • I spend 3 hours a day (4 days a week) making games or learning. I would love to double that easily. No procrastination here. The end result is what keeps me going.

  • Hey, so I have a sprite that uses the mouse input. If I take the mouse off screen the sprite which uses the input from the mouse now can't be destroyed.

This makes sense, and obviously you need to take the mouse off the screen to do whatever else you need to do. I

How would this be fixed though? I have messed with margins a bit since the layout size is 1920x1080. Didn't fix it for me at least. Can you set the sprite to stay on screen and be destroyed if I take the mouse off of the game screen?

I can upload it to the arcade if you need to actually see the game.

  • Money.
