  • As far as purchase other's cheap app source code, maybe 10% of the time. Most of the time, I've used stuff that I've developed myself awhile back and replace the graphics. I don't like to the spend money when I don't have to.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you sell few times the same game or is there an exclusivity on flippa?

In other words, are you allowed to use the source code again when you have sold it on flippa?

  • Hello,

Are you making a business case (even high level) when building a game or you just invest (money and time) and see what you can get from it?

  • Hello,

    Are you:

    • hiring artists to create your assets,
    • do you make them by yourself,
    • do you purchase them from assets platforms,
    • do you find them for free on free assets platforms,
    • do you use what you find on google (whatever the license)?

Just curious. I have seen games with very nice graphics in the completed games sections and I am really wondering.

  • Hello ErekT,

    Thanks for your reply.

I agree with you, and from a user perspective, it's true that (depending on the type of game) a game looks more appealing when in 3D.

Imagine Clash of clans in 2D, it wouldn't be as popular as it is.

And btw, I assume that they built in 2D from 3D iso assets.

But for games like Pako chase (to take the same example as above), I believe that making it in 3D might be less time consuming than building it in 2D from 3D iso assets. But I'm not really sure as I have never been through this process.

And I am also wondering if in terms of costs, it's similar too.

Is a 3D artist asking more for 3D models than a 2D artist for 2D sprites?

  • Hello,

What viewport size are you using for Android?

Same for the sprites, which size do you target so that rendering is nice on any device, as its bitmap and not vector-based?

When a game is called HD on google play what does it mean? That sprites are larger?

And for those games, is there a size for mobile phones and one for tablets or only for tablet and reduced for mobile phones?

  • Hello all,

For those of you who build 2D and 3D games. How do you compare the 2?

In terms of development time? design efforts? results? popularity? roi?

And btw, do you think that 3D iso games like Pako chase simulator or Crossy road are made in 2D or in 3D?

  • I've seen your work on some platform (don't remember which one, openart or something) and it really looks nice.

And making it free is very cool from you.

    Congrats.

  • Very nice. Have you found a way to export an image from the model?

  • Hello,

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting for newbies to get an idea on earning from making apps.

However, you make it sound easy and "passive" while it's not.

Most of your incomes come from your freelance work. Which is not passive I assume.

As you have to sell a good story on your blog to sell your products, I won't blame you

Btw, are you selling your apps through flippa because it's more profitable than publishing them on stores with admob?

For those apps, I also assume that you purchase cheap apps which don't look nice and replace the graphics to make them nicer and resell them with a good margin. Quite clever

I'm not here to criticize, troll or whatever, just want to exchange with someone transparent enough to speak about money

  • Hello,

I was wondering how long it took you to earn $25 on Google Play with your first app and through which method (ad, IAP, paying app)?

  • Hello,

    And to sum up?

What is the best/easiest way to publish a game in Google Play?

  • Thanks saour,

My assumption was correct and I will go with chipmunk and recreate a car behaviour.

It's a bit a pity that the behaviours are not compatible with each others (I struggled lately with the direction behaviours as they don't behave the same actually, i.e. with the management of the angle).

For the iso 3D, your tip is indeed interesting. Probably the way to go.

I am making a first little game in iso 3D for my kid and the design in ISO 3D is very time-consuming and constraining (i.e. if going for multiple part sprites with damage management), I'll probably go 2D from above for the more complex game I intend to do afterwards.

  • Hello,

    I'm new at construct 2.

I have installed chipmunk and I intend to use it for a small racing game.

First, I notice that when used with the car behaviour, it's not working well.

So, I assume that I have to rewrite the car behaviour if I want to use chipmunk (same for physics behaviour).

Also, I am wondering if chipmunk is OK with 3d isometric graphics.

And if yes, how to do the transposition?

I mean, is there a way to manually handle the collisions?

Because in 3d iso, objects might be displayed "behind" and not colliding.
