  • Hehe.... Mine was 270Mb, so I started compressing OGG to lower bitrates - going down from 192 to 96 saved me over 120Mb so far. ;-)

    Cheeers,

    Greg

    Thanks, I found out how to compress ogg: forum.blockland.us/index.php

  • I just added a 3 minute song to my game and it's now 29.4 MB. How do I make the zipped file smaller?

  • <font size="5">Paypal's Illegal Activities</font>

    Customer comments are eye-opening: bad customer experience, spam, fraud, etc.

    Paypal will not hesitate to steal money from your account, as I personally experienced. They stole $500 from my bank account, which is a lot for me; but even a penny stolen is still illegal.

    Paypal also will not hesitate to tell you to destroy valuable items, which is illegal.

    <font size="5">Moneybooker's Illegal Activities</font>

    Similar red flags as Paypal: bad customer service, spam, fraud, etc.

    And again, stealing money from people's accounts. It doesn't matter if $8000 is nothing to Moneybookers, they still stole $8000 and the victim here is the customer - not Moneyboookers.

    <font size="5">Nevertheless...</font>

    More often than not, users justify the illegal activities of Paypal and Moneybookers because "it hasn't happened to me, so it doesn't bother me", "a few bad cases are to be expected, nothing is perfect", "there's no other good alternatives for money transfer", and other illogical opinions and arguments.

    Don't be imprudent. You have options. But I recommend the following:

    1. Watch your bank account for missing money, but don't be paranoid

    2. Listen to ex-customers, don't be indifferent or rash in judgment

    3. Search for alternative ways, in case what you rely on fails you

    4. The fool and his money are soon parted, as the old proverb goes

    5. The avarice is the root of all evil, as another old proverb goes

    What's it mean?

  • 1. In your own words, what is an ?indie? game?

    A game made by an amateur developer or an independent person, rather than a professional development team or a number of developers.

    2. Why do you think independent game developers join internet forums?

    The need to socialize.

    3. Why do you think independent game developers leave internet forums?

    They get friends.

    4. What are, in your opinion, the key limitations and benefits in regards to forum activity?

    Benefits: virtual socializing. Limits: not actual socializing.

    5. How do you think life in the forums affects the following ethical considerations: privacy and anonymity, intellectual property, people and machines, and digital citizenship?

    It doesn't, if you're smart.

  • Hello there everyone. I have here a big bunch of free to use music, a mountain of it you could say.

    These tracks are from various sources whether it be projects that haven't worked out, tracks that weren't used,

    tracks i've made for fun and so on. They are completely free to use for both non-commercial AND commercial projects.

    I only ask that I am credited appropriately and that if you like my tracks that you consider commissioning me for your project.

    The tracks are mostly in ogg and mp3 format. If for some reason you really really want a track in a different format

    and you can't do it yourself, please send me a pm and i'll be happy to help.

    If you like my music, please consider donating to my paypal address at: bc_12qpg@live.co.uk

    I'd like to commission some tracks for my upcoming games.

    But I don't use PayPal anymore, they stole $500 out of my bank account.

  • You reminded me of Mario Teaches Typing. Now I wanna make a typing game.

  • Bumping with screenshots. Still can't upload my game.

    How the upload process starts...

    <img src="http://imageshack.us/a/img189/2076/6gwm.jpg" border="0" />

    ...and how it always ends...

    <img src="http://imageshack.us/a/img713/3636/8v6z.jpg" border="0" />

  • I've been trying to upload my game - r141, 2.40 MB, no plugins or other stuff except what Construct2 comes with - but I keep getting this and nothing else:

    <img src="http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/4766/iyq8.jpg" border="0" />

  • What are some bad ideas you've had? To start, here are some of mine:

    1. Tetris HUD (e.g., on the side in its own window) in a platformer:

    <img src="http://petrastorrs.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/4a.gif" border="0" />

    2. Motion control racer where you accelerate by wildly swinging your arms in a circle:

    <img src="http://www.dinf.ne.jp/doc/english/global/david/dwe002/dwe002g/dwe00216g07.gif" border="0" />

    3. A game about waiting in line for hours for movie tickets, but you can pay $5 to go to the front of the line:

    <img src="http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2012-02/301650920-09185429.jpg" border="0" />

    4. Playing as a polar bear in a blizzard game:

    <img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XwCsOFuBCmc/TwJ5A05rm8I/AAAAAAAAAZ0/Bu9KE1QBZIM/s400/calvinpolarbear.jpg" border="0" />

  • I have a "pause" global variable of 1 and the follow events:

    <img src="http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/3666/jwkr.jpg" border="0" />

    But when I press Spacebar, the game doesn't pause.

    When I delete the condition "pause=1" under the first event, I get the same results: the game doesn't pause.

    Is it because the Spacebar is already pressed for the second event, so the game thinks the event is already done?

  • Juggling three buttons for a simple game is a chore. For games like Contra, it's best to have the character automatically run so I can focus on shooting. For games like Mario Bros., a run button is good for focusing on jumping. Some shoot-em-ups need a speed-up button, but not all.

  • Do I use a numbered global variable or a text global variable for a level select screen? I made a level select where the player can choose which level to do - no locked levels - and now I want to change the level sprite when level is completed.

  • i think its better for mmorpg

    together kill the boss <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    What if someone could control the boss in a player-versus-player mode?

  • How do I make a name select screen? Examples:
