  As far as I know there is no behavior, or setting that makes object share z. Then again no two objects can have the same exact same z index anyway.

  You can however set an object to move to another object z wise in events.

  Um yeah, I call bs on the Unity thing. Tools have little to do with accomplishing your goals. The only things that are absolutely necessary are skill, and drive.

  Take Spelunky for example, Gamemaker sucked, especially back then, and yet Derek Yu was able to knock one out of the park.

  It has to be open ended, otherwise you would not be able to make events that reference an object which may not exist yet.

  If I were to make an event that said every x seconds sprite set y to self.y+1, as it is now it wouldn't do anything until one existed.

  Error reporting really wouldn't add to ease of use in the long run, as you would have to have some silly event that asks, hey sprite do you exist?

  But the kicker is you couldn't do that either because you want to make it so that you can't reference a nonexistent object.

  It would depend on the number of frames for the pre render, and, or size, but thats for memory.

  Neither have much effect on performance

  Perhaps you could color code the order, grayscale perhaps, but honestly a path editor should merit an official plug, just like the tilemap plug.

  The problem is getting people to agree on its features.

  Otherwise an external editor, paired with an array is the best option imo.

  Given that we now have cubic, and qarp, curves in events are a little easier.
