  • C2 is officially 2d, but there is third party support for some 3d.

  • Base64 is interesting, but it increases the size on disk considerably.

Another thing to consider for sound is that we can now generate it in in browser, and that means we don't have to rely on pre generated files.

It does mean we need more ways/ tools to create something for game use.

I think we can all agree that with the amount of complaining going on versus the slow release of features a lot of you are going to be pretty tired by the time we get a beta.

  • All exports are html5.

There is an exe wrapper for the html5 export. It works as well as your browser.

There is no indication that C2 will be reduced. It uses a different type of license than C3.

C2 is currently on sale, and users with a C2 license will be given a reduction for the first year of a C3 subscription.

  • My point was they won't be giving existing Greenlight developers their money back.

  • "It's only 100 dollars" they said, "it goes to charity" they said, "you get to submit games indefinitely" they said.

Since we're doing memes, and I'm positive no other model works for a browser based editor.....

  • Its probably doable:

Has anyone on here actually made money from games they created in it? I would love to have a look at some statistics of users who use it as a hobby vs users who make money by selling a game they made in it.

You say it's cheap, but most people, even those who can stomach going rental are pleading for a lower price for first year, more free features or a one time payment offer combined with rent. In the end we can be cynical and say - well yeah- of course they will.

I dare to say that I can afford paying a rent for it, but still think that it ain't worth it. I just don't use it often enough to justify paying yearly and I guess I will use it even less now.

The problem is not the price. The problem is the payment model- just doesn't justify a html5 only game engine. Even stencyl - which is very similar in pricing and target audience (perhaps inspiring scirra) can compile to native games

Actually I was going to ask Tom if I could just get them to use some of what I've earned from the Scirra store to handle the fee for C3.

  • Add a text object and debug it.

Text set text to touch.alphaorientation or whatever it is.

  • Try Construct 3

One issue to consider with the pay to export later model is that it's almost impossible to develop a game without an export to test on devices, and people you want to get input from.

As a service you wouldn't need to export all the time, so I agree that other plans than yearly would be beneficial.

Six months, and even quarterly might be good.

    Edit:

On the other hand we still don't know exactly what the subscription would offer.

Give me web hosting with that, and I would likely poop my pants to get in line to pay.

  • I'd suggest people start asking for a Chromecast feature now.

What needs to be considered is how you would deal with the input there.

The options are touch with orientation, and possibly keyboard via bluetooth.

    Mouse maybe?

  • You would create some saves slots in localstorage.

You would need a date plug to check what the current one was.

First check what day it was

One slot to check if they had already opened the game that day: If date= slotdate, do nothing, else add 1 to another slot slotcount

Then remember to check slotcount, and reset it after 10.

  • Yes.

I think jomo was suggesting that as it's the one feature that C2 won't handle without writing some code.

  • I guess S'mores will be a combination of versions?
