  • Maybe I didn't clearly explain my problem.

I tried the solution by newt and it works perfectly fine. However, the array technique I wanted to use was for Levels to download. I planned to allow people to upload their own levels.

Now, the thing is, I first made the array size like this:

    x - 640

    y - 480

    z - 1

The problem is, the file get's extremly big. It's 4MB big!

So I thought to make this like the picture in the first post. Using only this:

    x - 18

    y - 12

    z - 1

This makes the file tiny and more acceptable to download the file. The thing is, the only way I know is, to make event to test what place the object is:

Wall is in position x=32, y=419

    -> Add value 1 at Array (x=1, y=1)

To do this, I would have to make a lot of events. That's why I want to ask, is there any other way to make as less events as possible, not to cluter the event sheet?

  • That still doesn't help if Parallels doesn't support DirectX fully. Only if you use Boot Camp than it would work.

  • Not only that. When I try to use Construct in Parallels on my PC with the Magic Mouse, I can't drag any of the objects. When I left click, it only moves the layout.

I tihnk for now, the only way is to install Boot Camp and Windows or use a pc.

  • Then again almost any copy protection can be beat, so go with what works and spend more time making a great game than worrying about the ultimate protection..

Yeah, you're right. We don't have to do this like Ubisoft did with their online DRM.

  • Thank you, this works like a charm!

[Edit]Grr, somehow, I can't make the array save the value to the place of the wall. I tried to do with x to 640 and y to 480. But this can make the file to 4MB big.

I want to use for example:

Wall is at x=32 and y=416

Array should save this as x=1 y=1

I could do this with events for every place in the grid, but than I would have 234 Events.

Any ways to make this smaller.

  • That's what I meant. The problem would be, people could just set the date back and they can play again.

  • Make a game something like

    Subscribe to Construct videos now

    .

You have to collect gremlins, with this you can put them in chest to get the letters B, A, T. After collecting all, you get a bat, and you can only punch the penguins. Power orbs are coming out of penguins and you need to collect them to level up the bat, after that you can kill the penguins. If too much penguins mutate and go to the doom scale, then you lose.

  • Hello! Another Help Thread by me for you!

    <img src="http://i44.tinypic.com/2irqjrk.png">

I planned to make a level editor. It has a grid with 32x32 big blocks. I wanted to make this with an array.

When the player pastes a Wall at "x 1 y 1", it should get a value of "1". Then, when the player puts the player start point at "x 2 y 2", it should get a value of "2".

Now, is it possible, that there is an event, that just says, every coordinate with value 1, creates a wall object and every coordinate with value 2, creates a player object?

Or is it only possible by doing 200 events for every point that looks if the value is this, then do that?

  • Rise up from the grave!

Anyway, I now use the RTS Behaviour. I didn't know how to make him move randomly, so I just did this with the waypoint to put at x: random(640) and y: random(480).

Now the issue is, how can I make that it doesn't put the point in the wall? The enemy sometimes just goes in circles because he can never touch the waypoint.

If anyone has another way of random movement, than just post your idea.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Just to ask, wouldn't this be a bad idea for people that don't have internet 24h. Like Dial-Up or people with Capacity Limit (Like 5GB per month). It always has to download the file from the internet and if it's not working or the internet dies for maybe some hours, you can't play the game.

I thought maybe to do like looking at the date & time of the pc and see how much difference is from the actual release and now. If it's too big, it closes the app or says it's expired. Just the problem would be, you could bypass this by setting the date back and presto, it's working again.

  • Yeah, now that you mention this. The game could be just bundled with the needed version of DirectX like the Construct Installer. It's not really necessary for Construct to have the newest version of DirectX. Right?

  • Anyone who plays a lot of computer games should know how to use a computer.

In fact, depending on what kind of gaming someone is doing (e.g. not flash games on a kids website), they should know far more than the average computer user.

Not really true. For example some people in my class play a lot of pc games but I they don't know anything about DirectX or OpenGL.

It's just most games you buy already have DirectX bundled in it and a lot of people don't realize that DirectX is installing while they are installing the game.

  • OK, I also tried this with my XP Virtual Machine. I found out, that sLanguage is not the language of the windows. It's the setting of your Regional Options. But this doesn't really hurt.

Now, looking at Language\Default in XP shows 0409 too, which is right, because the Windows is in English. My Windows 7 says 0807, while in the list it says 0407 is German. It's possible, that after installing a MUI, the first two numbers of the value change from 04 to 08.

[Edit]At last it's working, but I need to know something. Is there any Wildcard option (*) in Construct?

  • Can I maybe ask, what the Thwump Box actually does? Not everyone played N or N+.

  • are they going to even be able to figure out your game?

Well, there are people that only use the pc for gaming and don't care about the rest, like how to download things.
