  • Yeah..,. just checked, you can use the browser object to try and 'lock' the Orientation, but as far as I remember it doesn't always work for all mobiles / browsers.

  • I don't think there is a way to force it for everybody, some browsers don't support it I dont think.

I think there is a way using the browser object to either disable it OR play in full screen, I will have a quick look and let you know.

I have attached a screen shot of settings / code that will work (1 line of code and example of what your animations should be set on.

  • Tinimations that looks amazing , I wish I had those graphical skills!

nice one , look forward to playing it when its ready

  • Hi, my name is Alan and I'm from the UK

I have made a few posts around the forum but don't think I ever did say 'hi' on here, anyways I'm looking to make some fun games in construct2.

My normal job is a web developer (PHP / Mysql) etc, not the graphics side I cant draw for ....

  • that looks awsome, does it run well on mobile as well?

  • Hi,

Im still new to game making and for first job it would be cheap. Can you show me a picture about the character?

just a simple one, I have attached it

  • Hi Jamie,

Just been on your site, Your work is amazing!!

I have a 2d Character I made myself (very poorly) , but I would like to have him created better and with all different animations (like walking, dying, jumping) etc etc

The character is basically a circle with a face (very simple)

Would you be interested in doing something like that?, if so how much would you charge?

    Thanks,

    Alan

  • Not sure if it would work in your case but cant you check if an object is overlapping the button object and if so change the animation of the door object to open etc?

  • Hi guys,

Great thread, I enjoyed reading about everybodys various experiances.

I'm 34, I've always been into games since being little with my Atari / C16 , I have always wanted to make games but never had a clue really and never got around to learning.

After doing various crappy jobs after I left school until I was about 27 I decided it was time to put all my effort into something I loved and try and make a go of that before going for another Job I just didn't want to do with my life.

After reading the best way to learn (without going to college etc) , I was told by most to learn something else first like PHP for web design just to get the basics for coding, so thats what I did and gave up all my time just reading and learning, things actually progressed well and within the year I actually ended up as a full time Web Developer (still am)

My hunger for making games never went away mind, and I have tried using various things from XNA to Stencyl and now I'm giving CS2 a try (by far the best once I have enjoyed using to date)

I have not completed any games yet I have a few that are like 50% finished, I'm let down a lot by my lack of graphical skills and after spending hours and hours trying to do simple graphics I have decided to give up and just buy them from other people who know what they are doing :p

I'm going to spend as much time as I can around my job and family working with CS2 to make some games and hopefully make one that people enjoy playing.

My skype is alan_neller for anybody interested.

  • I dont seem to have the problem with most my objects (in terms of behaviours etc) , but when I clone a 'text' objext i get the same problem, it resets all the size, color, font etc etc, and I also get the same problem as above with regards to sprite fonts

  • Neller Here's the outline for the chapter on Tower Defense:

Chapter 6 - Making a Tower Defense Game

    Starting the project

    Creating a spawn point

    Laying out the level

    Setting up the turrets

    Adding enemies and projectiles

    Rotating the turret

    Firing the turret

Setting up the path for the enemy

    Setting up an enemy wave

As you can see, it's just one level, but I feel like adding more levels is easy enough. It told me enough to make me feel like I could do a tower defense game in Construct 2 pretty easily. He does explain how to do touch with the TD sample, so I think you could do it with mobile.

Thanks, Yeah I have actually started one myself and it was going ok (with touch controls and such) , but the frame rate when I started using quite a few enemies and turrets on a mobile dropped to like 10FPS

So I was mainly wondering if in his example it had quite a bit going on but the frame rate (on mobile) stayed 'ok'

I tried all sorts of optimization and everything but mine just wouldnt improve enough.

    Thanks again

  • Hi,

When I test a project im working on currently it runs at around 56-60FPS when in portrait view, but when I test in landscape the frame rate is about 40-45

What would be the main causes of this? image scaling or something?

This happens regardless weather I use, Scale outer, Scale Inner, letterbox view etc etc

(I'm not just reffering to when to switch from 1 to the other 'in game') - even if I test from Landscape from the start its the same.

    Thanks,

    Alan

  • jayderyu - I will try and put one together when I can, its got a lot of stuff in so didn't want to give it away as yet,

Ashley - isnt that the debugger? - its just that was the main thing I was asking about in my first post, how to read it more than anything and if the stats I posted from the debugger was too much.
