  • chrisbrobs: I see, so you used html5's audio tag. I was thinking more of doing it within C2, But you said you tried and didn't work. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if this is implemented later. Thank you.

Also, very nice falling leaves effect!

  • Due to time restrictions it wasn't possible for me to get help yet. I will still buy anybody willing to help me a C2 license. The offer is still up...

    Thank you.

  • Or maybe he means during the Early Adopters period.

  • Is it possible play music from a URL? I haven't found a way to do this, but maybe it's possible... if it's not possible, is there plans to make this possible? Perhaps a 3rd party plugin out there already?

  • sqiddster: What would qualify as too big?

  • Thank you. :)

  • newt: Thanks a lot newt. Based on the information you gave me, I think it will be fine. Thanks again. :)

  • Try Construct 3

  • newt: I See. 1000 copies is a lot, though. NPCs are moving most of the time, and are pretty much the only things that will be moving. A big RPG city typically doesn't reach the 50 NPCs really. I doubt it even reaches 30. Plus they aren't showed all at the same time either, since the screen scrolls. I think I will be fine on that end. On static objects, I do not think I will ever reach 200 showing at the same time, either. I guess it will be fine.

Do you know for sure if C2 makes objects not visible in the current display area inactive? Or do I have to use what cow_trix suggested?

  • newt: Counting copies? Or different different sprites?

  • cow_trix and sqiddster : Thank you for yer answers.

Could someone from Scirra ( Ashley or Tom ) confirm this and answer my other concerns? I'd appreciate it. :)

  • Maybe we can work together? I dont need no money, only c2 license. skype me awghenas1989 if interested

    Fair enough. :)

  • ...RPG level design. I personally make the graphics in Photoshop first, then, import to C2. RPG's have many objects displayed on screen at one time, most of the time. Specially for places like towns or forests. My question is, how good will C2 cope with this? Do copies of an instances count as objects or not? How much do they impact performance? In some cases I know I can use pre-rendered, but others, like trees, NPCs, etc., I cannot.

For example, a big city would have considerable size, this also means many sprites. Although the whole map won't be showed at once. Does C2 still process the non visible part of the map the same as the visible area? Or does C2 kind of ignore non-visible parts for better performance?

This is very important to know for me, because I plan in having an over world map, and this map will use animated water tiles and the size of the map will not be small, but not incredibly big either, since I can make the sprites smaller once in the over world map to give illusion of larger environments.

    Thanks!

  • : So far I haven't found any sprites of this style that has a trench coat. The first thing I thought was indeed franken-spriting, but I did not have any luck with it.

  • If you can make a game, VampyricalCurse, you can certainly manage to edit graphics - and it's fun learning!

Velojet: I can edit graphics, just not this kind. I have tried many tutorials and I have come the conclusion that I cannot tell shapes when it comes to pixel art of this kind. Complex shapes in pixel form go beyond me for some reason, let alone shading. Editing this would take me probably years and I would give up half way, or quarter way, due the fact that it would be a complete fail. I never asked for help before on any of my projects.

On a side note, if your game is free, then why are you willing to pay someone for the work? That's absurd!

Tokinsom: Just because it seems I won't get help otherwise. This is the reason why I am not gonna pay the prices I have seen in many articles online, not only cos I cannot possibly afford that, but also because my game is free. Paying seems absurd in my case, I know, but I don't see any other choice. Indie game development has changed a lot since I first got into it back in '95. Seems like there's no place for "free" anymore, or is growing thinner by the day.

  • Sadly, I think you are right. Doesn't seem like I am gonna get any help for free these days. I would pay for it, but the thing is I'm scared of the price tags I am gonna get. I was gonna recolor all other sprites but not this one. No one's really giving me a price, so I dunno if this is an impossible request for me. What I really need for this sprite, it's a black trench coat. I dunno how much work that is and I cannot draw a trench coat in pixels, it goes beyond my pixel abilities.
