  • If anyone has made windows 8 work with Clay.io and leaderboards please help =) here is my tale so far following the instructions from Austin on the Clay.io community section. Clay.io

    --------------------------

I tried following the above and i get this error:

Unhandled exception at line 3, column 11555 in ms-appx://2c5a28f4-2aa5-4927-8e4a-c9f99a23ac12/api.js

0x800a01b6 - JavaScript runtime error: Object doesn't support property or method 'ready'

It references this code (snipped since its long):

    namespace("Clay",function(t){return t.Achievement=function(){function n(n)...........(snipped)

I am using the api.js, api.css, and socket.io.js from my clay plugin directory. Using the above files lead to another error since the socket.io.js above is not a complete file.

    Any ideas?

    ---------------------------------

I also get i just noticed:

Exception was thrown at line 2, column 36961 in ms-appx://2c5a28f4-2aa5-4927-8e4a-c9f99a23ac12/socket.io.js

0x800a01ad - JavaScript runtime error: Automation server can't create object

If i move the socket.io.js to be loaded up first in the index.html

    --------------------------

Aaaaand If i change the Package Action for these 3 items from Content to Resource it no longer attempts to load them (i'm guessing since no error and it doesnt show in the running part of the solution when i try and run it) and the error changes to:

Unhandled exception at line 9092, column 3 in ms-appx://2c5a28f4-2aa5-4927-8e4a-c9f99a23ac12/c2runtime.js

0x800a01bd - JavaScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this action

Which occurs when i click on my Show Leaderboards call and I assume this is happening since the other files did not actually load.

  • You can do it exactly how you posted in your thread.

use the System compare two values and use:

    First Value : VARIABLE % 2

    Comparision : = Equals to

    Second Value : 0

and put in your actions for your even event.

After this click on the Event you just created and hit X to add an ELSE statement

  • :UPDATE:

After hours of messing around with a ton of settings and machines I decided to just make an appx and install it to see what happens.

    Works 100% with no issues.

So the question is? How do I test it in VS without these issues.

    :UPDATE2:

Lol so apparently the issues is if you run it in Visual Studio with Debugging enabled you have issues. If you just run it without Debugging it runs like a champ. I have never had Debugging cause this much of a performance issue before so I never even thought of trying it without it on.

Hopefully this helps other people and now I am extrememely satisfied with my Construct and my purchase =)

  • I really don't know what is going on but I just want a smooth experience in Windows 8 Apps.

I've tried just a simple platform controller square object sitting on top of a jump thru platform on the ground. moving left or right every second or so there is a blip and the controller sprite lags for a brief instant in what looks like lag.

The project runs fine in browsers just when i export to windows 8 and run i get this behaviour. I tested it on 2 different machines all showing the same thing.

    Any idea?

  • I went ahead and reset my steam construct back to non opt in and deleted it. When it was reinstalled it installed version 114 which was expected.

I then went into the properties and set it up for beta opt in and it was immediately changed to needs update and after doing that it was version 117.

This was both with the "Construct Free" version on the steam store as well as the "Construct Personal" version you get from Scirra.

  • Hello,

New User to Construct and I am in the process of learning it. My first project went well yesterday as I took the platform jumping endless project that comes with Construct and changed it a bit. Added some new graphics, some items to collect, and moving platforms. I was happy with the output but when I went to put it on Windows 8 I ran into an issue.

I am getting 60+ FPS in IE and Chrome on Windows 8 Pro on my machine but when I export to Windows 8 and run in debug/release mode i get a choppy 50 FPS that slowly degrades down to the 40's during gameplay.

I am in the process of redoing it completely from scratch and testing in Windows 8 as I implement each piece of logic but was wondering if anyone has any advice on what "generically" might be causing issues on windows 8 such as certain objects or types of code.

    Thank you =)

Here is the Game I worked on yesterday as the test project and I would hope it could run at 60FPS as a Windows 8 App on my machines here.   Platform Jumping Test

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Click on Store at the top then My Downloads on the left on the next page. You will see assets to download there.

If you bought from steam opt into the beta and you can download on first launch or the about dialog.

  • I had just planned on buying Construct finally to upgrade my free edition in the next few days when I saw this notice. Saving 15% would be nice I could take the wife out for a small lunch.

The main question I have tho is if i get the version from steam would I be able to use the beta versions somehow?

    Thanks.
