  • Download speed and CPU power have nothing to do with the way updates are handled. On an unrelated note, multi-core 3GHz CPUs are available for as low as 40? and broadband internet is pretty widespread now. I don't see why should the majority be bogged down by select few unfortunates still stuck in the P2 and 56Kb era.

    The updater would be nice and convenient, however it is not absolutely necessary. We can live without it, unlike certain upcoming C2 features. Remember that Scirra isn't all that great in body count, however big their aspirations are.

    Besides, I tend to be wary about auto-updaters, having gained a few grey hairs from update failures.

  • Most likely fake. Most spambots report fake browser information.

  • Graphic and sound assets are the main culprits. Don't go overboard on texture sizes nor animations. There is a reason modern AAA titles occupy a whole DVD despite being short gameplay wise.

  • I have ATI Radeon HD 5670 and no issues at all. Please be more specific, otherwise readers will assume that Construct 2 doesn't work with any ATI cards.

  • Service pack 2 is basically mandatory nowadays. SP3 even more so. At work I install Windows XP onto machines, I always apply those service packs otherwise users run into many problems.

  • Why do you need a video? It is very bandwidth intensive and thus undesirable for online experiences... s'why most videos are streamed in low quality today (youtube uses special encoding optimized for size and still uses low resolution).

  • Can't stop players from cheating. In fact, why bother? It is their choice how they want to play the game. If they want to ruin their enjoyment by giving themselves unlimited health and money just to blitz through the whole game, let 'em. It is their choice.

    Focus your energy on something more worthwhile.

  • Don't bother playing the missionary... just make game and release them. Sooner or later they will begin asking what you are using.

  • Forgive me for asking before checking it out myself, but I'm quite curious: does the plugin also grab parts of texture? Think tileset or texture atlas.
