  • Tylermon thanks for the reply.

Yeah sprite for cursor doesn't work in IE (win8 apps), hence using thehen cursor plugin. The problem is that it works on all our test machines as described in OP, so hoping for some light from Ashley as well.

It could even be MS not having updated drivers on test machine or something too, but how do tell them to update!

I think we will try updating it using the current version of C2, and hope it is a bug or something, and if that fails update without the plugin .Really would like to nail down exactly what it is before that though, but bit hard when it all works our end.

I've just fired of another email to MS to ask them to check if the problem exists their end in both Win8 and win8.1 releases of the app. But again it works our end on both counts there as well....

  • Hi fellow constructors.

Recently one of our apps on Windows Store FlapFleet Challenge has been reviewed by the Store Team, and they say the mouse cursor is not always present for navigation controls.

The problem is that in preview, when testing in VS, and the app itself when downloaded from the store do not have any problems our end.

So how do we fix that? Where do we start?

The app on the store was created with release R185 which had the UTF-8 problem when building the app (easy to get around), but aside from that all works fine our end as note above.

Ashley, I completely understand your capx requirement in bug reports now! Is it possible there could be other issues with that build (R185) that may only surface on certain systems.

DUTOIT, I understand from the various forum topics that you publish to Windows Store, have you had any issues like this\ any suggestions.

thehen, your cursor plugin is the only third-party plugin I use (thanks!). In all our tests it works as expected do you have any suggestions. I could take it out and see if it solves the issue. But again from our tests it all works fine.

Any suggestions\feed back would be much appreciated.

  • If you are building apps for Window Store, make sure the app has keyboard, mouse, and touch support!

Just had one of our apps reviewed by the Windows Store Team. And while the navigation supports mouse and touch, it has been pulled because it does not support keyboard.

    Go figure...

  • striimix, yeah, I work simikar hours also, we are hooked! - but that is why backups are essential!

What I do as a matter of habit is make a backup at least every day, and always after major changes.

And ALWAYS before opening in new version of C2. That way you are covered when things go wrong, as they often can in beta releases.

Don't forget you have the auto save files as well.

But rest assured Ashley always fixes things pronto. Happy coding.

  • Yeah same problem, but as is always the case Ashley will fix it pronto.

Always remember to make backup before opening in latest beta, this is the nature of beta testing !!

  • Ashley, yeah bit pedantic eh! Thanks for quick fix!

  • This is just a heads up for anyone trying to release an app to Windows Store.

When you run the game in VS you will see an HTML1701 error in javascript console.

When compiled for store this will FAIL validation.

    To fix:

    Open jquery-2.1.1.min.js in visual studio

    Select File\Save as\Save\With encoding\Unicode(UTF-8 with signature)

Rebuild the app and validation will now PASS.

This was not an issue in previous versions of C2, but with R 185.

  • Star citizen... need high power PC, but woah, awesome.....

  • This nodewebkit thing has been going on for some time now. It seams they can't, won't, or don't care about fixing it. The inherent dilemma of third party components.....

  • Yeah noticed this myself many versions ago (can't remember which one), and then recently in R177. But seams to be ok at run time for me...

  • thanks for reply,

    Yeah that's what I thought.

I have a situation were I want to display a Thanks for purchasing banner. But in the list of options there is no 'User Cancelled' option, and if you cancel using the dialog (click cancel button) On successful purchase fires.

    Any ideas.....

  • Creating in house wrappers for desktop and mobile would require an immense amount of work. It might be possible for Ashley to do it -- especially if he decided to fork some of the extant export options into C2 specific versions -- but it would mean all other new features grinding to a halt.

He's said as much before, and it's true.

Let's face it: shiny new features might not be as important to hardcore users as stability, better UI/workflow, and better export options...but Scirra's target markets (those who want to make a good looking game with minimal programming) are much more likely to care about shaders and shadows.

It is no point having shiny new features if the end product can't be reliably shipped to your intended platform, even those who are not hardcore users will want friends to play their created work.

As shinkan noted it is not our responsibility to lobby third party devs to fix bugs with exporters or pay someone else to do so, that responsibility lies solely with the developers of C2.

I for one have no problem with some kind of subscription payment model, not if it means getting rid of crappy third party components.

You simply can't keep passing the buck - if you do, the hardcore users will jump ship, and the above scenario of possible history outcomes for C2 may indeed be Que sara sera.....
