As true as this may be I doubt it. Software can get out of hand, from what I understand the Gullen brothers were probably in their 20's when building C2, I'm sure mistakes were made. All of the wisdom in the world wouldn't get you to build the perfect modular piece of software.

I didn't said it's true. I started that sentence using "to me" to point it's just my opinion.

  • What's the point of making Construct 3 other than finding a way to charge people again for the same product?

People say that C2 is easy to pirate - so I believe that C3 is essencially C2 with more control from Scirra.

I think that C3 is good for its creators only. To me (and all users I've talked to) it was completely unnecessary to make a new Construct instead of putting all these new features on existing C2 engine.

I completely understand their move from a business perspective (make a safer version of the engine to avoid losing money). But it sounds ridiculous to make C2 users pay for other people mistakes. "Other people" in this case are the dishonest pirates and Scirra themselves (for creating something that wasn't secure enough for them).

They already did something similar when Construct Classic was abandoned in favor of C2 (for obvious reasons - CC is 100% free and some years later they probably regretted this). Now I wonder how long will it take to Construct 2 forums will be in read-only mode (like CC forums already are).

  • When Construct Classic forums will be available to write again?

    Thanks!

Still interested to know when CC forums will be back.

    Thanks.

  • I'm updating this topic with good news:

Despite Scirra's lack of interest in fixing this problem, looks like the jump-thru errors are gone if you use "Platform2" behaviour by Colludium .

I've asked my friend andreyin to add this new behaviour to my CAPX and it plays *MUCH* better now.

You can test it at http://silly-bell-6ca15c.bitballoon.com/

I'll buy this behaviour and put it in my own games as soon as possible.

Thanks to Colludium for making this plugin and to andreyin for testing it!!

  • Thanks for the tips R0J0hound! So far I still can't make previews work - but I'll keep trying.

I'd appreciate if someone can test if this is also happening to you after install latest W10 updates.

At least C2 previews are still working - so I can keep making one of my games.

  • If you haven't installed dx9, install it and see if that helps.

Otherwise you may have to run the programs in compatibility mode.

    Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately I already had tried these suggestions but they aren't working.

I guess I'll try to format my PC soon to see if it changes.

It's strange because CC used to work perfectly until the updates and, once again, it happened in 2 different computers. Now I'm curious to know if was just a coincidence or if CC won't work at all in latest Windows 10 version (possibly a Scirra's dream coming true).

Any ideas are welcome - but I'll let you know what happened after formatting my PC.

  • Hello! I've updated my Windows 10 OS to latest version (1709) and since then I'm not able to preview my CC games anymore.

I click both preview buttons ("Run all" and "Run layout") but nothing happens. If I double click directly the EXE containing this preview (Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Scirra) nothing happens as well!!

This week I visited my parents -- and after updating my mother's old notebook I'm also unable to preview CC games on her computer too.

Is anymone else having this problem? Or it was just a coincidence that happened to me (same error in 2 different machines)?

By the way I still can run games created from "Export to EXE" option. I just can't preview them.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Have you tried to delete the .persist file located with your .Cap project?

Every time I can't open a CC project I simply delete it and then I'm able to open my games again!

  • Congratulations!! Your game looks very good.

Nice to see people still using CC.

  • I'm so happy to see this. Thanks and congratulations!!

  • The link is broken! Can someone post it again?

I really want to try this out...

V.1.03 is included on the all-in-one pack:

  • Haha no I do like the challenging nature of it. I thought I'd be put off by the no save aspect but actually it's quite good and it makes you really get the timing of the AI down in each room in order to not lose any unnecessary 'health'. I'll definitely be supporting your next game too.

    Thanks! =)

Thanks a lot for re-uploading the fullscreen .cap example on the other thread as well. I'm sure that will come in really handy.

    You're welcome!

    ----------------------

Tcheco's 2nd Steam update was released. What's new:

*Tcheco now can jump with any of the main gamepad buttons ("A", "B", "X" or "Y").

*"Reset" function is now activated using button "back" on gamepad (used to be "X"). It works only during stages (and if game is not paused).

*Button "A" on gamepad also skips screens ("Start" also still works to do this).

*Button "B" on gamepad exits game and return to Windows when player is in title screens, cutscenes, etc.

    *Small graphic glitches were corrected.

See you in 2018 - to release version 2.3 of this game and the sequel Skatemasta Tcheco!

Special thanks to Nesrocks, Danilo Dias and all players who helped me with tests for this update!

  • Very impressive, congratulations!!

  • Thanks for your reply! =)

In fact I only need to upload my game (.EXE + all game files) to Valve/Steam (no DLLs and files like this).

When I'm logged to their system then I can choose which redists users need to install before playing.

Right now I've checked two redists (DirectX and Visual C++) as extra downloads. I just need to know if I can uncheck Visual C++ or if it's mandatory to CC games.

But OK, I'll keep both redists marked until I find a way to make tests. Thanks again!
