  • Thanks!

Yeah, I don't think there's any option to export for Steam games. With Construct 2 purchasable on Steam, you never know, it might happen one day.

  • Sorry for the late reply, it's my first time back in the forum for a while.

Unfortunately I haven't been working on this project for a few years, though I'd love to get back to it some time in the future. You should check out my current project, Freedom Fall though! It's up on Greenlight here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails

  • Freedom Fall on Greenlight!

Hi guys, a couple of years ago, I started my second major Construct project, a platformer called Freedom Fall. I'm a digital artist by trade, but I'd always wanted a chance to design my own games, so I had an amazing time building up the first half of the game!

Back then, the game looked like this:

    <img src="http://lisa-rye.com/DA/ConstructScreenshot.jpg" border="0">

Unfortunately, I hit the limitations of Construct Classic, and with no way to convert the project to C2, I was lost as to what to do. I brought my demo to a game pitching event, and had the great fortune to get noticed by a local development team!

Together with Stirfire Studios, we re-built the game from scratch in Moai, with lua scripting, resulting in a much more robust and efficiently programmed game! I'm incredibly grateful to Construct - as a prototyping tool, Construct was amazing! (I still use C2 for roughing out game ideas, and recently used it as part of the Global Game Jam.)

Now, the game looks more like this:

After much hard work, we're finally ready to release the game, and for this, we need your help. If you like what you see, then please vote for us on Steam Greenlight, or let your friends know!

  • Hi guys, I used Construct 2 for my Game Jam project this year, and was very glad I did! The theme this year was 'heart beat'.

Debug my <3 is a puzzle/platformer set inside a broken computer game. Destroy the bugs by using other game bugs against them to free the heart of the AI.

The music and sound is by Brock, and the rest is my work.

You can play the game online here:

    Debug my <3 Online

    Controls: Move - arrow keys.

Jump - space bar or up key

Shoot (once you have the debug gun) - Z

    Enjoy <3

  • Hi all,

I've just started work on the third level of my platformer and have run into a couple of bugs that I could do with some help with.

    The first is this:

I have one monster where in order to make it vulnerable to attacks, you must first hit it with a whirlwind. This works okay, but when I have multiple instances of the monster, all instances become vulnerable when only one is hit. I am using private variables for each monster, yet this still happens.

Secondly, I have a 'whirlwind maker' that spawns a whirlwind when hit by the player's gust attack. It also works perfectly when only one is in the game, but when a second is added I get a couple of bugs. When one is hit, all the whirlwind makers spawn a whirlwind. Also, the whirlwinds produced don't respond to the 'start ignoring input' platform command and mimic whatever the player does.

    Shift - Jump & Glide

X - Gust attack (can be used to move whirlwinds)

    Up arrow - Talk

(Please do not reuse or re-post art assets from my game.)

Does anyone know how to fix these issues?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I really appreciate the suggestions for improving the game.

I've fixed quite a few issues with the demo in my original post (same button to jump and glide, scoring fixed, attack animation fixed, death/respawn system added etc), and am now working on new monsters and interactive parts for the third level.

I'll be sure to post another demo once I've finished a couple more levels.

  • Wow, thanks for giving such detailed feedback, PixelRebirth! That will help so much! Hopefully next time I upload a new version of the game, I'll have those things fixed and more.

  • Thanks for the feedback so far everyone!

L5j, those are some good design comments too. I've been experimenting with getting glide to work with the same button already, but haven't had much luck getting the script to work. Does anyone know of any other Construct games which use a double jump or glide?

Ah, yes, the HP bars are placeholders, I should have thought to replace them before uploading it. I'm hoping to add more elements that interact with the wind attacks (like the trees moving, grass particles etc) later on, once I've gotten the core game elements working.

Toralord, thanks for your comments also. I already am using global variables for the score though, and it doesn't seem to carry between scenes.

  • Hi guys, I'm a first time poster, but I've been playing around with Construct for a couple of months now. I'm an artist primarily, so the coding has been quite a challenge! My game's now has its first two levels in a playable state, so it'd be wonderful to get some feedback at this point.

It's a air-themed platformer, where you can glide and use wind-based attacks to defeat enemies. It's set in an Aztec art inspired world where clay creatures are causing trouble.

    The controls are:

    Shift Jump

    Z Hold to glide

    X Attack

    C - Talk

There's a few bugs I'm also having trouble with:

-Attack and Death animations not playing correctly (getting stuck on frame 1 etc.)

-Score doesn't carry over between layouts

-When talking to characters, you need to press the button twice the first time.

-General performance issues at some points, possibly I'm using too many sprites or bad coding?

If anyone has any help there, I'd really appreciate it!
