  • Can anyone confirm this?

    Unless I'm missing something obvious, text that's aligned to the centre in Construct ends up left-aligned in the compiled app.

    If anyone can confirm this as a bug, feel free to log it as a bug on the tracker, because I don't remember my account info over there, and don't have time right now to look it up.

    I'm using the latest stable version of Construct 0.99.62

    Cheers,

    Krush.

  • Thanks Deadeye.

    I'll download it and see what info I can get from dragged files.

    Cheers.

  • Ok, didn't have time to finish it this weekend, so I'm going to upload the original "Part 1" again.

    This time it's on my website, so it's not going anywhere (unless I do )

  • No idea anyone?

  • Is it possible to catch Drag and Drops from outside an application?

    For instance, you drag and drop a bunch of files from a Windows folder window and your app catches the names of the files dragged onto it.

    Also, while I remember, is it possible to have your app window "stay on top" of other windows?

    Cheers,

    Krush.

  • Yes, I'm about half way to finishing the optimised tutorial, and I hope to have both tutorials in one program rather than releasing the second as a standalone.

    Unfortunately, I'm quite busy at the moment, but I should have some time this weekend to finish it, and have it uploaded Monday or Tuesday.

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Ahh, the good old attribute layer.

    I remember this fondly, from way back when I started programming on the ZX Spectrum.

    Some fast moving games, like the ones Ultimate Play the Game (Rare) produced didn't worry too much about the clashing, but some companies got good results with it.

    Manic Miner used it to it's advantage for the most part.

    Yeah, there's a couple of obvious ways of doing it off the top of my head, but I'm not sure I'd want to recreate it though.

  • Having finally got around to going through my backups, I've found the source for this tutorial.

    I'll be uploading the compiled tutorial and the promised "part 2 - optimisation" in the next week or so.

  • Very nice example Newt.

    A cap would be very handy.

  • Why not set the forum to disable signatures for anyone with less than 10 or 20 posts?

    I'm sure they'd get bored and go somewhere else.

    Or, set the forum filter to kill parts of their affiliate addresses, so that the links are dead.

  • For those that didn't get what Newt meant, he obviously meant that

    our

    answers to his suggestion for a Flash feature (a'la MMF) would be either Yes, Maybe, or No, you lazy b@$+&%d (meaning do it within Construct).

    He wasn't calling anyone a lazy b@$+&%d.

  • I wouldn't trust Google for a second.

    You'll have adverts coming out of your wazoo!

    BTW, these forums have been deadly slow the last few days.

    It's taken me about 4 minutes just to be able to post this reply, and probably another 30 seconds when I press Submit.

  • What's the difference between the Basic version and the others?

    Not very impressed with the layout of the website, as I couldn't see any comparison of the versions.

    Edit: Finally found a comparison page.

    Looking at it now.....

    ....OK, here's the Basic version compared to the Pro version:

    :: No rendering to texture

    :: No full-screen post processing effects

    :: No real-time shadows

    :: No profiler

    :: No video playback

    :: Basic version has "Made with Unity" splash screen, and/or watermark.

    :: A few other scripting/coding abilities.

    Might not be too bad.

  • Having contributed to commercial software, I have seen the benefits of a very strict lead programmer, and I don't think anyone would mind if their code was rejected, as long as the standards required were clear and spelt out in advance.

    Good luck with whatever route you take.

    My concern in this thread is what Lucid meant by the road he thinks Construct is taking.

    I haven't been on here often enough recently to know precisely what he means, so I'm just wondering if there's been something said on this subject recently that I've missed.

    We all know how real life can get in the way of our various hobbies, but is there something more to it than that?

    Personally, I'd like to see the Devs showing the same sort of passion for Construct as Lucid does (maybe they did in the beginning, and are maybe a little burnt out. Been there, done that.).

    Maybe 3 Devs isn't enough on a project this size any more.

    Would MAME have been as successful as it's been if Nicola had decided to keep his code to himself.

    I submit my vote for LUCID to become the 4th Dev (should he wish to do so), and I would like to see at least half a dozen Devs involved in this project, although it would still require someone at the helm to maintain the required standards.

    I really hope Construct doesn't fade away.

    As a C++ coder for many years, I'd get over it, but I really like what they've accomplised here, and I'd like to see them at least see it out to version 1.0
