  • Ok, well your guy said :

"We offer you 70% of the revenues from your game. We keep 30%. We hold the payments until you reach $500 to keep the administration costs down. Paypal is the most easy way to take care of the money, correct."

English is not my first language, but I do not see how this statement is a suggestion. "We hold the payments until $500.00", does not suggest a suggestion. "We usually suggest $500 by default, but this is flexible." would have been a better way of stating this.

I am happy to hear about the bank transfers, PayPal is definitely not the way to do things.

Well, anyway, Nice of you to clear things up.

Please talk to your public relations department, and ask them to be a little more descriptive when people send serious business inquiries to you.

Linking people to the actual contract might be a good idea too.

    Thanks again.

  • Hey guys!

I work with publishing at Desura.com and I'd like to clarify some things:

    - The $500 limit is a suggestion, and for most developers it's ok. This can be negotiated and most important; you can always contact us and we will make sure you will get your money. Even if it's before the limit! We are not a scam - we want you to be happy so you can continue to make awesome games.

    - We do Paypal or bank wire transfer. If you hate Paypal then we'll just wire the money.

    - We really want you to be happy. If you have concerns; just pop us an email. We'll do our best to accommodate your needs!

Ok, let's keep on making games and have fun!    =)

  • Love the concept, and the execution of this one.

  • Looking good :)

    I like your graphics.

  • This looks like fun! Will give it a go after work today.

  • Wow, you put a lot of work into this!

    Nice job :)

  • There are Browser plugins to help you with this, you can have a popup window open a URL or open the URL in the current window.

  • +1 for Spriter

There is a free application called Blender that may be helpful. You can use it for 2D or 3D animations.

It is really nice for isometric tiles.

    blender.org

The place to learn it is in the Blender Artists forums:

    blenderartists.org/forum

Some helpful things to search for in the BA forums:

    Toon rendering

    Keyframe animation

    Lip syncing

    IK animation

Particles (can make smoke, flames, explosions!!)

    Physics Simulation

    Fluid simulation

    Cloth simulation

You can make things that look ultra realistic, or extremely simple.

  • Steam protocol does not handle file association well, and a few other disadvantages.

Valve really needs to do some more work before they sell any other applications.

C2's steam version is only mildly crippled by this compared to Silo, and 3D Coat.

  • win-7 64 bit, steam 32bit, no background apps other than Steam and Desura (both are node-webkit if this is helpful).

Script works right after install, but after I reboot, and re-launch steam, it acts as it did before.

Running as admin did not help either. UAC has been welded OFF since 10 minutes after my first boot on this system.

Maybe you can make a version that launches from the startup folder. Have the application uninstall, then reinstall. Maybe this will help?

  • +1 same bug for me. I am getting random cut-out's too, if I have more than 1 sound block requesting a sound. Background music is now impossible.

In the past I was informed they do not test for or deal with Windows 7 problems. (I guess the FREE developer versions of windows 7 are too expensive)

If this is true, you are pretty much wasting your time with Construct 2 + Win 7 development.

If you find any "Show-stopper" bugs, they will be ignored unless they can can re-create them in windows 8.

The Node-Webkit Drag and drop is broken too, even worse than before. If you drop an EXE file on the window it will open the save dialog.

If you drop any file type Chrome understands like Jpeg or txt files, Chrome will load the files into the browser window rather than executing your commands.

The preview mode does not do this, so it is probably a fixable bug.

You can get a Dev copy of windows 8 for free. You can probably run it in a VM. If you do not have the same bugs when you test in windows 8, then it is time to give up developing for windows 7.

They will not be able to re-create or fix the bug.

  • They released the details on the first prototypes.

    man they are beefy!

Some have a 3 GB Titan, and 16 gigs of ram!

On the crappy side they are also shiping some units with only 8 gigs of SSD space?

So on day 1 games like GTA 4, Dirt 3, and Storm Rising, will not even fit on some of the SSD.

Well, they matched the specs of my current computer pretty good.

If they can keep the units under $600 I think they might have a fighting chance against PC's and future consoles.

Lets hope it does not end up like Neo-Geo, where the hardware was AWESOME, but the units cost 20x as much as any console. They where wonderful systems, but only sold a few units.

For a PC to meet those specs would cost around $2000 custom built (+ $100-300 for the microsoft tax). I hope that mass production will keep the prices low.

Make sure you make Backups before you run anything in the current version. It might shred your work.

Especially if you are using Windows 7! (They do not seem to test in win 7)

  • I am having exporter issues too.

Be sure to check the bug list, and submit if you find one.

Seems like every single exporter has some sort of bug or issue.

  • Seems like every exporter has some sort of bugs, which seems to merit a "Stable release"

you need to check the version numbers on both the beta, and stable pages.

The highest number is what you want.

If you are using steam, switch back from beta to stable. (or vice versa)

If you are using Windows 7, you may just be out of luck. I do not think they test on windows 7 anymore.
