  • Until then, make your sprite grayscale and use a color filter.

  • There are some problems with DirectShow too apparently, but they aren't the same as DirectSound.

I know when I'm on Vista Play Music doesn't work from resource or otherwise, on three different machines I've tried at work.

"Q: Do we need to adjust the our code in anyway?

A: That's hard to say without know what your code does You need to test.

Vista has its own set of issues such WMP using Media Foundation for WM

playback, the presence of the EVR, new model for volume control per

    application, etc."

  • It's cool man. As I mentioned I used to blow a lot on a new PC too. The PC exclusives just aren't abundant enough anymore ... and man do I hate Spore lol. *cough*

360 isn't "junk" anymore, they're all on 65nm chips now and don't have many issues anymore. I bought one at launch and it never died, I got a new one however because a friend spilled beer on it ... yay.

  • I just reset the XY when it leaves the play area. If the layout is 800 x 600 for example, just subtract/add the XY it leaves at based on which side it left.

As for the other issue, that may be something that can be added. An option to have the XY update based on actual position rather than where it would have been.

  • Aww, I was sort of hoping you were going for the full-3D "remake" route, since the last one I saw in a hospital made me sick ... no ... going to resist ...

    Anyways, good luck I guess

  • I'm 100% sure I understand what you are getting at... are you saying the GPU i the bottleneck in the system or the CPU? I know the CPU is the bottleneck since it is not being used properly YET. I bought it because software will grow into it... I have owned a computer store or at least worked in one for the last 12-13 years, so I'm pretty up with what is going on in terms of hardware advancement. I bought now because we are half way through the 7 year technology phase... this PC should last an easy 3 years without any upgrade and still play whatever the latest game is no worries.

I guess I'm saying you didn't need to buy the extra GPU power ... yet.

So, when do you stop waiting? What you just stated happens all the time. If you thought like that, then you would never buy anything new...ever.

I generally skip every other generation of hardware and take a look at upcoming releases. DirectX 11 is coming and they're talking about 12 already.

The cycle doesn't end, and as far as gaming goes, I gave up on PC for the most part. Xbox 360 and PS3 will last 5-6 years and cost tons less. There's a few PC exclusives left, but not nearly enough to blow a huge sum on a PC.

I don't know what kind of laptop you have, but my MSI GX600 (512gb GeForce 8400M, core 2 centrino, 4gb ddr2 800, etc etc...) doesn't run Crysis at 30fps... at least, not on anything over Low settings. D:

    Core2Duo 2.4ghz, 3 gigs of ram and an 8800M.

I just have one PC and one laptop :/

I'm down to just this laptop and nearly every gaming system on the market. I will never buy a desktop PC again. I used to do exactly what you did, and I guess I just don't care anymore.

  • Having them in a cap is obviously not as user-friendly as without, but the point is it will get new people who want to use the resource to download Construct, even if just to rip the stuff out of the cap and move on.

Another open resource doesn't do a whole lot because it's only a matter of time before people start saying "ah, he's using that pack" - they get old, over-used and are worth nothing other than to conceptualize. Thus, I'd want it to have people downloading Construct to use it, for secondary benefits.

Same is likely with the Game Maker people, and MMF2 people ... if someone posts a game that uses library artwork, the first couple responses point that out and tell them to make their own.

  • Regardless, I appreciate the effort so thank you for that! Ashley will fix it one way or another because I believe he said there were plans to improve the blur masks performance.

I don't mind adding both, I just was hoping for a performance increase

  • Probably with some math. If you want to avoid that though, maybe make an invisible ring around the player? Then just resize it if they get a power up.

  • Uhh, no... Someone pee's on the floor, you clean that up NOW!

Someone concerned about online who didn't search for it first, is on a whole different level than piss.

    Terrible analogy, -5 points.

  • I tried editing the BlurMask myself and ended up with a diagnal blurmask lol

I'm not a programmer so I just was poking around at the files. Maybe linkman can fix it? Hehe.

  • Nice! I didn't expect that much of a boost!?

Hope Ashley can add this to the next build (i'm sure you don't mind).

    Thanks again

EDIT: This is still helpful, but it doesn't seem to work as a mask. That was the part I needed most. Is it possible to apply as a blur mask?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Nearly all of them are available as caps in the uploads section. Just search.

  • I suggest as an alternative to just do the effect in the layout and capture a screen of it, then paste that into the picture editor and crop it.

At least then you're still within Construct.

(Delayed response FTL, but whatever, sue me.)

  • This forum isn't nearly busy enough to need to be too worried about repeats. If the online plugin is coming as soon as suggested, then I think we can handle a few more weeks of it.

Ashley could just add a new sticky about it, but I don't think any threads need to be merged or removed.
