  • I downloaded that capx, that makes sense! Thanks a bunch! I will have to split my stairs into a different object and then can set this up.

    have a good one.

  • Thanks, that did it! almost. If I make the polygon outline the roof then it works very well. the only problem is I have stairs on the right to get to the roof. What is the best way to make them climbable, but able to walk by as well?

Right now I made it so they have a polygon shape that extends down to the top of the players head, so you can walk by, but you have to jump to get on the stairs. Is there a way to change the polygon when the player does a certain behavior?

    thanks!

  • A little background:

This is for a plat former war game, I am trying to draw most of it.. this is making it hard and slow.. I am not a great drawer.

I have drawn a small building and a stick figure, they both work in the level. I have a level layer and a background layer.

I can add the building to a level and add behavior solid to it. This way the player can jump on it, so thats great, that works.

But the player cant walk in front of the building.

I have tried making the building part of the background, adding jump through to it and none of it works. I am only able to jump on top of it.

    any ideas?

    thanks

  • That was it. It was animated, so I added the image points to all the frames and its good

    thanks!

  • I have a tank image and have set a image point for the main gun. When the space is pressed I have it set to spawn a bullet on image point 1, the tank barrel. for some reason this only works half the time. Sometimes the bullet will spawn from image point 0, or the origin. Any ideas why this is happening?

  • GenkiGenga "spawn, set and pin" that sound exactly like what I need. thanks I will check it out later today!

  • Thanks bscarl88, that is a interesting point. I will have to read up more on this problem. If anyone has some insight on it please provide.

    Thanks

  • I am going to have a player that can pick up different weapons. Is there a way to spawn the weapon on the user and have it attached to a image point? Or do I need to make a set of sprites for the player for each possible weapon?

    thanks!

  • Thanks for the replies and testing guys. I hope to update this some more in March 2015

  • I am working on my second game. I am trying to make a stick figure / hand drawn army game.

    A couple questions:

I don't plan on having many areas that the player can fall off the map, but I still want them to be able to jump from buildings and have gravity. Is a platformer still the best idea for this?

From the example it says to use 4048 x 2000 for a background. If you can, is it better to use smaller and have them repeat? If you want the background to just repeat and play on a mobile phone or tablet, would 2k by 2k save much space?

I was going to use a auto runner as a template, but I want the player to be able to go back, and not always move.

Check out my first hand drawn and scanned tank. I have not colorized the wheels yet.

I will scale this tank down more, this is just start. What do you think?

    Thanks!

  • JamesXXXYZ thanks for the note.. I had not noticed that.
