  • Haha, it seems I didnt make it hard enough! :)

I wanted to make sure there was at least 2 ways of doing it - but damn!

All sounding good, ill be happy to validate again and even add a couple more entries (at least) before the close date.

  • My pleasure Intrepid.

Re the icons, I am a little colour-blind with a couple of shades - when rotate layer (4) was not usable in the level it looked the same colour as 1 to me (though if your making it not selectable it wont be a problem).

Agree with the RMB too. Look forward to the update :)

  • I understand what you mean. Maybe i made a bad example - allow me a second shot (My only interest is to help btw i hope you dont find this combative).

Imagine that you pick up your controller and the directional pad is on the other side of it instead. Sure you could get used to it - but that will require some patience. I just think its risky to go with a button setup that is completely different from most web games in its category.

I would say the same thing if you were making a first person shooter and not using ASWD for movement.

Oh and about the wall stickyness i think it changed colour as i was in-between layers but to be honest i cant remember exactly!

  • A couple of ways i can think of (starting points at least).

Platform behaviour has the option to set speed. What you want to do is set different platform speeds for the different parts of the animation (that requires searching for information on how to use animations).

The other way is with time delta. Ive only just started using it but its fantastic. Set a global(or local) variable to count dt when you start to move. That way you could set different movement speeds in a timebased way instead.

There is probably a ton of other ways. Ive only been using the program for a few months myself.

  • I know that "feeling" well :) its been plaguing me weeks.

Ah i didnt think about the 10mb limit. Yeah the right background would definately be like a balancing act.

The best of luck to you getting it on desura/steam - or whichever way you go (Personally i think kongregate and gaming portals are the way).

  • Sounds pretty exciting to me.

If anyone can actually accomplish this they will have the thanks of the whole c2 community - and should also recieve a legendary forum badge ;)

  • Cool game intrepid. Nice idea.

I seemed to get frozen both times i played - the player got stuck in between one of the layers. To get past some bits i was moving the platforms bit by bit so the player would stay on top of it (was i cheating?)

Maybe you should restrict movement of a platform that is touching the player. Regarding the layer complications - how about pattern coding those numbers as well as colour coding. Example) the number 2 will have the same brick pattern as the platform.

Platforms you cant move are greyed out - but dont even give players the option to select the layer when its not movable (IE if the player hits 3 when its not movable it stays on the current number instead). This should make things a bit clearer.

  • Its a cool idea, I like the music and i also got stuck in the wall lol.

Constructive crit: The controls need changing, most people are right handed so movement feels pretty natural using the arrow keys (Also most lefties have adapted themselves unwillingly to this style). Just my opinion but buttons should be where its natural for your left hand to be (This varies but i think its pretty safe to use A, S and D).

I would like to see you continue to work on this, if not look forward to whatever comes next haha :)

  • It looks great crudeMik,

with some nice graphics it could be very fun.

  • Amazing introduction 0plus1, how long did it take to do?

The presentation trailer for the game is really nice(REALLY nice), one thing that sticks out to me though is once the game is playing - it seems like something is missing.

What it needs (IMO) is some background action. Maybe the background will be full of stars and occasionally a shooting star comes across the screen (That would match the intro theme). Or possibly the background could be a colourful pattern that constantly changes (That would match the overall feel of the gameplay).

Here is an example of what i mean : youtube.com/watch

  • Graphically its awesome LemonDROP.

    Cant wait for some gameplay.

  • Sounds pretty awesome to me. Will it be turn based or real time?

cant wait for a demo :)

  • Hi Gillenew.

Nice artwork! The background art is paticularly nice. Good use of light and effects like the jump dust in the game.

Constructively - i wasnt a big fan of the sounds. The jump sound is perhaps a little too loud. The music was very fitting but it became repetitive really quickly.

Also regarding the resolution - I would decide what you are planning to do with the game and base your resolution off that. If you are planning on putting it on websites like flash games then the max width is often around 800. For chrome store last i checked they encouraged a minimum resolution of 1024x768 but also liked there apps to scale full screen.

I wasted 2 days adjusting my platformer to a new resolution because i changed my mind about this :(

Looking forward to your progress with this.

  • Hey KSLR, not really too much to comment on - but i have to say that i like it so far. It makes me think of battles of a cellular level :)

    I like the graphics.

  • Woops i guess i had better validate my level! - Here it is. Its more of a trial and error style of stage (I tried to make a stage to emulate the scenario i was having the most fun with while playing).

Completely understand that your not releasing the full cap! That you released anything at all im grateful for! Definately agree that you should be thinking about monetising an idea like this.

It seems i was more confused about the scoring than i thought last night. It could be more intuative if you started with an arbitrary number like 1000 and you lost points for the more moves you made instead of gaining points. Ending the stage with a 0 would just mean you made too many moves/drops to be competitive. I did understand that karma was the amount of tries but wasnt sure if it tied into your actual score or not.

About the hexagons - Why did i tick that box? I guess i thought it was (cpu)consuming effect. Its actually pretty cool when it doesnt change your orientation.

Looking forward to progress! Nice work.
