  • It's not the grid. It's literally the editor.

So do you see in the pic, the empty space above within the box of the blackscreen layout? That space isn't actually "space". That layout or what happened in my editor, the alignment is off and it make things appear as though it's not fitting fully on the screen/layout or things are not "in placed" where I placed them at. An example , say I put a sprite literally in the corner of the boxed layout. The sprite, would appear to be lowered down out of the corner, even though it's literally still in the corner. If I previewed the layout, in preview, it would show that the sprite is in the corner as I placed it to be still. But in normal layout editor, it would "appeared" to be moved down out of the corner even though it is in the corner still. if you understand what im trying to explain. So basically, the alignment of objects and layout is off and making things appear "out of place" when they are not out of placed at all.

Have you looked at the tutorial effects? I think this is probably the closest to the VHS effect. But I have also experimented on some of my projects with it and got the effect. You will need these effects.

Grayscale effect - to make it dull looking (If you want)

Noise - TV like screen effects. It's good for the hologram effect you want.

Blur horizontal - Helps to make it more vintage looking or retro

take a look at the tutorial too when you can.

I had use either the warp layout effect or the water ripple effect to make it look like an old video recording on a security cam. But that was a good time ago when I was experimenting with the effects.

  • For the past couple of months, my editor has been off and my view of things are not as it seems when I click to preview for my game. Im not sure whats wrong with it or how to get it back to normal but I had this issue for a while now. I tried logging out and closing the browser. Turning off the whole pc, closing the project and I even updated the stables. But it seems to not work. When ever I make a new layout or project though, everything in editor is fine and my view of things is back normal.

Same project, main layout im working on.

Same project, new layout I made.

Thanks so much! It works! Now they move more like spiders just how I wanted them to. I will post a gif of them soon to show.

Just to show the update of the codesheet of your advice.

  • Hey all, so im working on my new project and setting up the movements for the enemy, which are the scorpions. What im trying to do is get the scorpions to move in a frantic spider like way and have them move back and fourth wandering around the screen until they get close enough to the player and chase after them. Now I use the bullet behavior for them and their movements are 90 angles for the bullet. I got them to kinda move the way I like but not all the way as you can see in the gif below....

They stop moving after their frantic moving and just stay in one place afterwards.

I have this coded for them in the event sheet.

But I can't seem to get them to keep moving and I tried using every tick with it as well. Anyone know how I can get them to keep moving and wander around the screen frantically back and fourth?

Here are some screen shots to get an idea of their movements im aiming for...

  • I have finally come to a completion of my game and will be releasing my first project. At the beginning, I was going to release it on Steam. But I realize itch.io is very beginner friendly and it doesn't take much or cost 100 dollars just to upload a game and sell it. Especially if the 100$ goes to waste from no sells. So im not in no rush for steam. itch.io is a really good place for me to start to get some experience on marketing and sells. The main goal of this all was to get the experience and that's what I achieved. I jumped into this project not knowing much coding at all, and was able to learn some advance stuff I couldn't possible think was possible, but knew it was possible to do. Worked on this for 3 years, since the middle of 2019 around September. Not too bad for my first game. But anyways, I will release it tonight on itch.io at 12AM. The full game has been changed from feedback I got. I can finally move on, take a break close this project and start working on my other projects I started on. I will upload here tonight.

  • A screenshot of one of my side projects im working on. It's another arcade game that I will soon work on after my main project is completely finish. This is the first developed look and finally have a concept I can officially like. Early development but had this project since last year and put some work in it today. The game style will be a defense tower like type of game.

    After version

    This was the earlier version....

  • So, since the demo of the game has launched I haven't gotten a lot feedback as I liked. However, I had received positive feedback of the game outside it's comments section, in other posts I made of it. Newgrounds would defiantly get the feedback I need to see, so I will be altering the controls just for that site since they have scrolling on their page that the buttons are used to play the game. I had one guy beat the full demo of my game, so I was happy to see that and know that the game is not too hard for a person to play. Anyways, not giving up and will follow through with launching and making my first project as a developer. Regardless if its a success or not, im just happy to make video games :) If you haven't already checked out the game, please come try it out and tell me what you think of it on my itch.io account. Looking for more of the feedback and it's defiantly welcomed. Until then, see you later players ;)

If you have an itch.io account lets follow eachother, looking to connect more with other developers.

  • Apparently it sold well for it's launch. So I do see potential in it and Im also curious to see the games that will come for this device as well. Articles of it keeps popping up on my feeds. Im looking forward to it tho.
