• Wow I like it! Something like this should be a default starting animation for free C2 exported games.

    Suggestion: the scirra logo should be smaller than C2 logo, and the powered by is redundant. make it like:

    Powered By

    Construct 2

    A Game Engine From

    Scirra

  • Here is your example modified with my parameters. Tilemap at right, sprites at left, all with sampling: point

    To get tilemap to work correctly (the sampling) your tilemap should be in the power of 2 dimensions. I remember Ashley mentioned this somewhere. You are using [24x24] so thats why its like that.

    Use 2^1=[2x2], 2^2=[4x4], 2^3=[8x8], 2^4=[16x16], 2^5[32x32]... and so on.

    Sorry I didn't test, but I'm sure thats the problem, because it was discussed a few times previously.

  • Won't it be easier if you just use action:sort array and then action:reverse array. This is quite straight forward if the initiative is at X-index=0.

  • +1 for a search and replace

    yes please. +1

  • No issues here with a fully patched 8.1 system. Tried 'Reset dialogs' in Preferences and a reboot?

    Doesn't work for both 176 and 177. I have rolled back all updates and then test C2, seems fine. Then I tried to install the updates one by one to check which will cause the problem. It seems than the problem is not reproduced which is weird. I guess things are ok now.

  • To be honest, everybody can produce pretty graphics, what differs is the time spent on it. A talent in doing graphic, or you can call it the ability to materialize imagination with exceptional motor muscle control will surely help the "talented person to produce something great in short amount of time.

    I had a friend who's not at all have the talent as an artist, but he's passionate, so his instructor told him to spent time to replicate a sketch, which he stroke the lines and erase lines repeatedly until he gained a muscle memory and and muscle control. He finally manage to reproduce the sketch like after 20 days, and I can produce the same sketch in just under 2 hour. So talented or not, it depends on training and the time spent, one day anybody will pickup their rock bottom speed of stroking lines and making the "correct" strokes, which means the ability to make arts are acquired.

    That friend of mine nowadays, can draw something at similar speed or maybe a bit faster than I am now, given we're sketching the same thing. So, in this world, two types of artist exist, the "talented on" and "the trained" one.

    Naji this means you have to be the "trained one". Get a pencil and papers, practice, and after that you can start using pen once you have consistent strokes and good control. No software in the world will help you to acquire that skill, mostly it'll come from effort on doing it real. Cheers!

  • Wow, this might solve my problems in multiplayer connection recovery!!!

  • Ashley

    The UI just went shitty after a batch of windows update just now. I'm quite sure the problem happened because of the update, because it happened right after it. Anybody encountered similar issue?

    Problem description: I had to spam mouse click to get these 3 (highlighted in yellow) to show (very stubborn!). Single and double click doesn't work, had to spam it. I have tried reinstalled C2, still shitty.

    Spec: C2 [r176], Windows 8.1 64bit and 2 months old laptop.

    [/attachment:2t361y7e]

    Attached is the picture of the update applied (All 14th August). Update from 13th and earlier is not the problem I think.

    [/attachment:2t361y7e]

    I'm considering to rollback the updates, but I think it would be better if I remove the updates selectively. Any Idea which one most probably causing this?

    Edit: I'll try to see whether r177 have this issue or not, later after 3 days ( because I need to travel somewhere).

  • We have exacly the same problem. I have tried with up to 6 friends. No luck.

    I even tried it uploading the multiplayer game example on different web hosts/webhotels.

    Something is not working, thats for sure.. But we havent got any information really.

    I'm not well-versed in server technology but I have this kind of problem before, I read things about WebRTC that if your ISP blocks/throttle your P2P connection, funny things can happen with TURN server (if you ever reach a public one), so most promising solution that was suggested to me is to use Google DNS in the client/host computer.

    Google DNS seems to solve my kicked/unstable connection, but I'm not so sure if the problem has something to do with your firewall. ATM, try Google DNS to see whether it helps or not, otherwise, probably have to get answer from Ashley yourself.

  • OMG folks these escalated so quickly! Thanks all for the good reads! Gonna play around with all these tomorrow, see how I can exploit all these.

  • As far as I know, the wss is working perfectly at the moment i'm writing this for Chrome. For firefox refer this

    You might want to try Google Public DNS, in case your ISP block your P2P just as my ISP blocked me.

  • You don't want to do that.. The ternary ("?:") operator can be confusing to read, and nesting several of them is error prone and generally to be avoided. But yes it is possible. It will have many nested parentheses and be much less readable than the above. Some coding guidelines actually prohibit the use of this operator.

    Is that so? Hmm guess I have to use a lot of pickings then for a workaround on my current problem. codah can you show a sample of writing it correctly since you said it is possible, for the sake of knowledge.

  • newt

    tumira

    Is it possible to nest it like:

    if (Touch.Y=gold)

    gnew=Touch.Y-(gold*gspeed)

    else if (Touch.Y>gold)

    gnew=Touch.Y+(gold*gspeed)+a

    else if (Touch.Y<gold)

    gnew=Touch.Y+(gold*gspeed)+b

    else

    gnew=Touch.Y+(gold*gspeed)+c

    How do I write this using ?: operators? Can't seems to do this like I do it in MS Excel.

  • This thread deserve a sticky, a lot of beginners will benefit from this, don't you think Kyatric Arima

  • I'm still not familiar with real-time multiplayer, but I think you most pprobably have to implement simulate latency. Have you tried that?
