  • Personally I thought it was pretty bad-in-a-funny-way all the way through

Then again I really enjoy terrible B-movies and outsider music that other people would generally find unlistenable. Crappy stuff is just amusing to me.

  • Yep, just changing the screen size back to 800x600 improves things dramatically on my end.

Anyway, I've always been a firm believer that 1024x768 is way too big for a windowed game. Sure, a lot of people have big monitors or high-res screens, but not everyone. 1024x768 is fine for fullscreen, but if you're going windowed I wouldn't go any higher than 800x600 or you're going to annoy some people.

And I think the game looks and plays fine at 800x600, the screen size is just about right that way imo. Just my two cents, though, you can do whatever you think is best

  • Cool new enemies . This is shaping up pretty nicely.

A couple of issues... the window is bigger now than on previous versions, yeah? I'm not entirely sure that's necessary. And I now get lag and framedrop on my machine . Could be the level size, could be the enemies, not entirely sure... I could mess with the .cap a bit and let you know what's lagging if you're interested.

  • Holy mother of God... what the **** was THAT?!

    Hehe

You know that Tenacious D song "Tribute?" This is the song Jack Black is singing about in that song

  • Confirmed. It does not work. You should post a bug report

Heh . Some of those towers are actually 20 or more towers stacked on one spot.

Oh, and as you can see, sometimes the bugs will step out of line if there's a lot of action onscreen...

  • I found this posted on another forum and thought I'd share

    http://www.ubu.com/sound/komar.html

Basically, guy named David Soldier created a poll to find out what people want least in music, then made a song that had all of those elements in it. It's 22 minutes long, and includes such awesome things as an opera singer rapping about cowboys and Frankenstein (with bagpipes), and children singing about how you should do all of your Ramadan shopping at Wal*Mart while a lo-fi Casio synth plays a canned demo song. What, I ask you, could be more awesome than that?

  • I find it very strange they didn't mention worldwide statistics if they're going to try and brand the UK as so terrible.

Well, from the numbers I've seen the UK is actually pretty average compared to the rest of the world. It's the highest in Europe part that sounds all "omg national emergency!" when in actuality it's only leading by a couple percent, if you go off of that populationaction.org report.

  • I'd agree with Quazi and say it's probably a VRAM issue.

  • UK has 'highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe'

    quote]

That's a rather limited study, which fails to mention things like the USA

A study on teen pregnancy in Europe which doesn't mention the USA? How strange

And actually, the study does mention the US:

[quote:thgfv1wz]Notably, the United States has the highest adolescent fertility rate of all developed countries, and 73 percent of 15- to 19-year-olds giving birth report that their pregnancies were unplanned.

I'd say the article's failure to mention the US was due more to the fact that it was a UK paper reporting news that would be of interest to UK citizens.

I'd go one further and say this: I don't know much about the politics of The Independent, but I would venture to guess that the omission of the US was designed to raise alarm bells with UK citizens about their own problem with teen pregnancy... whereas if they had mentioned the US as being even worse then everyone in England would just say "oh, well of course they are" and go about their day. It's spin. Mention only that which is necessary to get the reaction you're after.

Or perhaps I've just been rendered slightly paranoid and skeptical about the media considering the fact that US media is so slanted and biased.

  • Thanks mate

By the way, I made that tutorials (some of them xD), dind't talk anithing about global objects.

I haven't gotten that far yet

  • Damn, this version is actually more challenging because the enemy ships mean you can't just stay in one spot

One glitch: When you enter your name for the high score, the name you type remains on the screen after the list start to fill in, so they overlap.
